MLB roundup: Phillies enjoy walk-off win against Pirates

On Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies secured a 4-3 victory against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates, thanks to Nick Castellanos' impressive performance. Castellanos notched two hits and sealed the game with a walk-off single in the ninth inning.

Jeff Hoffman secured the Phillies' third win in four games by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

Philadelphia's bullpen, which pitched five shutout innings and recorded seven strikeouts in relief of Spencer Turnbull, who allowed three runs on four hits over four innings.

Turnbull struck out three and walked four. Oneil Cruz hit a 2-run home run for the Pirates, while Bryan Reynolds went 1-for-1 with three walks.

Astros defeated Rangers 9-2 with Jose Altuve and Kyle Tucker each hitting two-run doubles in a seven-run seventh inning.

Victor Caratini's pinch-hit RBI single scored Jon Singleton, breaking the 2-2 deadlock. Altuve followed with a double into the left-field corner, driving home Jose Abreu and Jake Meyers.

The Rangers missed an opportunity to break the tie in the top of the seventh against Astros reliever Bryan Abreu, who allowed two hits and issued a two-out walk to Corey Seager before striking out Evan Carter.

Max Meyer delivered an exceptional performance on the mound, propelling Miami to a triumph against Atlanta in their recent encounter.

Meyer (2-0) exhibited great control, allowing only six hits and one run while striking out seven batters and issuing no walks.

Bryan De La Cruz, the Marlins' left fielder, had a productive day at the plate, going 2-for-4 and driving in three runs.

On the other side, Braves' starter Chris Sale (1-1) struggled, surrendering six hits, five runs, and three walks.

Despite striking out seven batters, Sale couldn't prevent the Marlins from taking the lead. Marcell Ozuna managed to bring in Atlanta's sole run with a groundout.
