MLB roundup: Red Sox send White Sox to record 14th straight loss

Ceddanne Rafaela delivered an impressive performance on Thursday, recording four hits and driving in four runs for the visiting Boston Red Sox. Their dominant performance resulted in a 14-2 victory over the struggling Chicago White Sox, who suffered their 14th consecutive defeat, setting a new franchise record for most consecutive losses in a single season.

Pitcher Tanner Houck (6-5) played a crucial role in the Red Sox's triumph, limiting the White Sox to just two runs on three hits in seven innings. He showcased his skill by striking out nine batters while not allowing a single walk.

Boston's offensive firepower was on full display, with Jarren Duran, Enmanuel Valdez, and Jamie Westbrook all hitting home runs. The team amassed an impressive total of 24 hits, marking a season high.

Duran, who had an outstanding performance with four hits, set the tone early in the game with a leadoff homer against Jake Woodford (0-2).

In another game, the Toronto Blue Jays secured a hard-fought 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, concluding a successful 4-3 homestand. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. played a pivotal role in the win, smashing a three-run home run.

Pitcher Yusei Kikuchi delivered a strong performance, pitching six solid innings and allowing only one run, four hits, and one walk.

Contributing to the Blue Jays' success, Ernie Clement recorded two RBIs, Justin Turner collected two hits, and Daulton Varsho scored twice. The team managed to win the final two games of the four-game series against the Orioles.

On the Orioles' side, left-hander Cade Povich made his major league debut but struggled, surrendering six runs, five hits, and four walks in 5 1/3 innings. Despite the loss, Adley Rutschman's two home runs and Ryan O'Hearn's two-run pinch-hit homer provided some highlights for Baltimore.

Yankees 8, Twins 5
Trent Grisham had a rare opportunity to start and contributed three runs, helping the Yankees extend their winning streak to a season-high eight games by defeating Minnesota.

The Yankees completed a clean sweep of the three-game series, although they had to remove Juan Soto from the game due to discomfort in his left forearm after a 56-minute rain delay between the fifth and sixth innings.

Gleyber Torres broke the tie with a two-run double in the third inning, contributing to a three-run rally. Marcus Stroman pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits.

Carlos Correa hit a home run off Stroman in the first inning, while Christian Vazquez hit a game-tying home run in the third. Minnesota's starting pitcher, Pablo Lopez (5-6), struggled, giving up seven runs on four hits and a career-worst six walks in four innings.

The Dodgers defeated the Pirates with a score of 11-7, thanks to Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts hitting three-run home runs. Teoscar Hernandez and Miguel Rojas also contributed with impressive performances. Michael Grove secured the win as the reliever.

Oneil Cruz hit a three-run homer for Pittsburgh, but Alex Vesia closed the game with three strikeouts in the ninth inning. Nick Gonzales and Ke'Bryan Hayes stood out for the Pirates with their performances.
