MLB roundup: Shea Langeliers' maiden three-homer game boosts Athletics

On Tuesday in Arlington, Texas, Shea Langeliers smashed three home runs, one of which was a two-run shot in the ninth inning, leading the Oakland A's to a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers for their third straight victory.

Michael Kelly secured the victory by pitching a hitless inning of relief. Mason Miller closed out the game with a perfect ninth inning, striking out Evan Carter with a 101 mph fastball to seal the win.

Carter and Jonah Heim hit home runs, Marcus Semien doubled and had two hits, and Josh Smith contributed with a 2-for-4 performance and an RBI for Texas, which suffered its third consecutive loss. Jose Leclerc was charged with the loss.

Royals 4, Astros 3 (10 innings)
Salvador Perez delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning as Kansas City overcame Houston to secure their fifth consecutive victory.

Bobby Witt Jr. drove in a run and scored one for the Royals. Perez collected two hits. Cole Ragans allowed three runs on a career-high 10 hits over five innings.

Yordan Alvarez went 4-for-5 with two RBIs for Houston, while Jeremy Pena had two hits. Cristian Javier surrendered two earned runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Cubs 5, Padres 1
Christopher Morel hit a grand slam in a five-run fifth inning as Chicago defeated San Diego on the road, bouncing back from a tough loss in the series opener.

After squandering an 8-0 lead in the previous game and losing 9-8, Chicago's bullpen stepped up. Ben Brown pitched 4 2/3 scoreless innings in his first major league start, and four Cubs relievers combined to allow just one hit - a pinch-hit home run by Eguy Rosario in the sixth.

Drew Smyly (2-1) earned the win, despite giving up San Diego's only run in his 1 1/3-inning appearance. Chicago secured its seventh win in the last nine games.

White Sox 7, Guardians 5

The White Sox defeated the Guardians with a score of 7-5, thanks to Dominic Fletcher's two-run double in the eighth inning. Chicago snapped a five-game losing streak in Cleveland.

Steven Wilson (1-1) pitched a scoreless inning and Michael Kopech secured his second save by retiring the final six batters. Korey Lee and Andrew Vaughn contributed with two hits each, including an RBI.

On the other hand, the Guardians' five-game winning streak came to an end as Logan Allen struggled, giving up five runs in the first inning and lasting only four innings. Josh Naylor hit a two-run homer and Jose Ramirez had three hits with an RBI for Cleveland.
