MLB roundup: Shohei Ohtani's first Dodgers home run highlights win over Giants

On Wednesday, Los Angeles sealed a three-game sweep against the visiting San Francisco Giants with a 5-4 victory, while Shohei Ohtani marked his first home run in a Dodgers uniform.

In the seventh inning of his ninth game of the season, Ohtani hit a home run into the right-center field seats off Giants left-hander Taylor Rogers, putting an end to his longest season-opening homer drought in his major league career. Ohtani had a 2-for-4 performance with two runs.

The Dodgers have continued their impressive scoring streak, scoring at least five runs in all nine games this season. This extends their franchise record and brings them closer to the New York Yankees' record of 13 games in 1932.

Tyler Glasnow secured his second win in three starts, while Miguel Rojas contributed a home run as the Dodgers finished their first homestand of the season with a 6-1 record.

In a low-scoring game, the Red Sox emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over the A's. Nick Pivetta and four relievers combined for an eight-hit shutout, completing a three-game sweep at Oakland.

The game's only run came from Enmanuel Valdez's sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, allowing Pivetta to earn the win in a pitchers' duel against Oakland's Ross Stripling.

Pivetta limited the A's to five hits in five innings, while Kenley Jansen secured his second save by escaping a ninth-inning jam. Stripling allowed eight hits and one run in seven innings.

In a dominant performance, the Astros defeated the Blue Jays 8-0 in the rubber match of their three-game series.

Yordan Alvarez had an outstanding game, hitting two home runs and finishing with four hits and three RBIs. Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pena also contributed with home runs.

Cristian Javier (1-0) gave up only one hit in five innings. The Astros outclassed the Blue Jays, outhitting them 15-1, although Houston pitchers issued seven walks.

Chris Bassitt (0-2) struggled on the mound for the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Cleveland dominated Seattle with an 8-0 victory, thanks to Jose Ramirez's two doubles and two RBIs, along with Logan Allen's impressive 6 2/3 scoreless innings on the mound. Leadoff hitter Steven Kwan also shined, going 3-for-5 and scoring three runs.

The Guardians took two out of three games in the series. Mariners' starter George Kirby struggled, lasting just 3 2/3 innings and giving up eight runs on 10 hits.
