MLB roundup: Surging Astros cool off Mets in 11th, Giants smash Dodgers

Trey Cabbage's two-run double concluded a five-run 11th inning for the Houston Astros, who achieved a winning record for the first time this season with a 10-5 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday in the deciding game of a three-game series.
Matt Festa (0-1) intentionally walked Yordan Alvarez to start the 11th inning, followed by a single from Yainer Diaz. Jake Meyers then delivered an RBI single to take the lead, and Joey Loperfido added a two-run single down the third base line. Cabbage's double to deep right-center field sealed the win.
Tayler Scott (4-2), the sixth Astros pitcher, gave up an unearned run in two innings of relief and earned the victory. Brandon Nimmo had three hits, including a two-run homer in the seventh, for the Mets.
The Astros had a 17-8 record in June, the best in the majors, bringing them to 42-41. The Mets, who went 16-8 in June, lost the last two games of the series and dropped below .500 (40-41) at the halfway point of their season.
The Giants defeated the Dodgers with a score of 10-4, thanks to Matt Chapman's home run and Spencer Bivens' impressive five-inning performance. Bivens, making his first major league start, held the Dodgers scoreless until the fifth inning when Chris Taylor hit a solo home run.
Dodgers' starter James Paxton was pulled after giving up nine runs on 12 hits in four innings. The Giants set a franchise record with 10 doubles and 11 extra-base hits.
The Pirates emerged victorious against the Braves with a score of 4-2. Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez both smashed two-run homers in the fifth inning, leading Pittsburgh to win the final game of the series against Atlanta.
Bryan Reynolds struggled, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, ending his impressive 25-game hitting streak. Bailey Falter, the Pirates' starter, secured his first win since May 24 by allowing only one run on two hits over five innings.
Despite Sean Murphy's double and two hits, as well as Marcell Ozuna's double, walk, and run scored, the Braves only managed to muster six hits in total.
The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays with a score of 8-1. Aaron Judge hit his 31st home run of the season, Gerrit Cole struck out six batters in five innings, and Trent Grisham and DJ LeMahieu contributed two RBIs each to help the Yankees secure a split in the four-game series.
Cole allowed one run, three hits, and one walk, while Toronto's Kevin Gausman gave up seven runs, seven hits, and five walks with seven strikeouts. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was hit by a pitch but X-rays on his hand were negative.
The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Washington Nationals with a score of 5-0 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Taj Bradley continued his impressive pitching streak in June, striking out 11 batters and allowing only three hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Isaac Paredes came close to hitting for the cycle, finishing just a single shy. This victory marks the Rays' fourth consecutive series win. Patrick Corbin of the Nationals struggled, giving up four runs on eight hits in six innings, resulting in his fifth consecutive loss.
