MLB roundup: Willy Adames ties franchise HR record in Brewers' win

Willy Adames achieved his fifth consecutive home run, equaling a Milwaukee franchise record, as the Brewers triumphed over the visiting St. Louis Cardinals with a score of 9-3 on Monday afternoon, marking the beginning of a three-game series.

Jackson Chourio contributed a grand slam, while Rhys Hoskins also hit a home run, leading the Brewers (81-57) to their sixth victory in seven games.

Milwaukee's starting pitcher, Freddy Peralta (10-7), permitted three runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings, recording three strikeouts and two walks.

For St. Louis (69-69), Pedro Pages hit two home runs, despite the team having won four out of their last five games. Cardinals starter Andre Pallante (6-7) allowed five runs on five hits in five innings, striking out three and issuing a season-high five walks.

In another matchup, the Orioles defeated the White Sox 13-3. Gunnar Henderson initiated the scoring with a home run in the first inning, leading to a decisive victory for the host Baltimore team over Chicago.

Cedric Mullins recorded three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs, while Austin Slater also contributed three hits and three RBIs. Henderson added three RBIs for the Orioles, who have secured victories in three of their last four games. Starter Corbin Burnes completed five innings, achieving his first win in five starts.

On the other hand, White Sox starter Chris Flexen (2-14) allowed three runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings, marking him as the pitcher with the most losses in the majors this season. Chicago briefly led with two runs in the first inning but ultimately suffered its 11th consecutive defeat.

In a close contest, the Twins edged the Rays 5-4. Trevor Larnach hit a three-run homer, and Brooks Lee also contributed a home run as Minnesota commenced its seven-game road trip with a victory in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Larnach's significant hit came in the second inning, and he finished the game with a 1-for-3 performance, scoring two runs and drawing two walks for Minnesota (75-62).

Lee recorded two hits, including a double. Royce Lewis and Jose Miranda also contributed with two hits each. Twins starter Simeon Woods Richardson was given a two-run advantage but lasted only 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits, with two strikeouts and two-hit ball he struck out three.

In the game involving Tampa Bay (67-70), Junior Caminero recorded a performance of 2-for-4, which included a double, an RBI, a run scored, and a walk. Jonny DeLuca contributed with two hits, one of which was a solo home run, along with a stolen base. Additionally, Josh Lowe also achieved two hits, scored a run, and stole a base, while Dylan Carlson was responsible for driving in two runs.

The New York Mets triumphed over the Boston Red Sox with a score of 4-1 in the first game of a three-game interleague series. Luis Severino delivered an impressive performance, pitching seven innings and allowing only one run on six hits and two walks, while recording five strikeouts.

Severino, who improved his record to 10-6, contributed to a remarkable stretch for Mets pitchers, as he and his teammates—David Peterson, Tylor Megill, Jose Quintana, and Sean Manaea—have collectively maintained a 1.44 ERA during the current winning streak.

The Red Sox's sole run came in the third inning when Ceddanne Rafaela hit a triple and subsequently scored on a single by Jarren Duran, who was later caught attempting to advance to second base.
