Mohamed Salah Sets Premier League Record for Most Goal Involvements in a 38-Game Season

Mohamed Salah has once again etched his name into Premier League history by becoming the first player to record 45 goal involvements in a standard 38-game season, setting a new benchmark for attacking excellence.

The Liverpool forward reached this record-breaking feat during the Reds’ 2-1 win over West Ham United at Anfield on Sunday, where he provided a crucial assist for Luis Díaz’s opener. The assist marked his 18th of the season, adding to an already impressive tally of 27 goals in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Salah’s 45 Goal Contributions Sets a New Standard

No other player in Premier League history has ever contributed to 45 goals in a 38-game season. The previous high marks, set by legends Thierry Henry, Luis Suárez, and Harry Kane, now trail the 32-year-old Egyptian’s astonishing season performance.

Salah is now just two goal involvements away from the all-time single-season record of 47, jointly held by Andy Cole (1993/94) and Alan Shearer (1994/95)—both of whom achieved the record during a 42-game season, prior to the league’s current format.

Liverpool’s Record Breaker Since 2017

Since his arrival from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has consistently delivered at elite levels. According to Premier League data, he leads in nearly every major offensive metric:

  • 182 goals – Most by any player since 2017
  • 267 total goal involvements
  • 76 assists from open play
  • 481 chances created from open play
  • 1,025 total shots
  • 2,489 touches in opposition penalty area

He currently sits tied for fifth on the Premier League’s all-time top scorers list, alongside Sergio Agüero, both sitting at 184 goals.

Salah Signs New Contract Until 2027

The Egyptian forward recently extended his contract with Liverpool until 2027, ending speculation around his future and affirming his commitment to the club where he has already won every major honor, including:

  • Premier League title (2019/20)
  • UEFA Champions League (2018/19)
  • FA Cup (2021/22)
  • EFL Cup
  • FIFA Club World Cup

With his record-breaking season still underway and Liverpool in the thick of the title race, fans and pundits alike are now wondering if Salah will surpass the all-time record of 47 goal involvements—and where his name will ultimately land among the all-time greats.

What’s Next for Salah and Liverpool?

With five games remaining in the Premier League season, all eyes are on whether Salah can continue to raise the bar and help Liverpool FC push for another title under Jürgen Klopp. The Reds are also still in contention in Europe, making Salah’s form all the more crucial.
