Moller books first ATP Masters 1000 spot in Madrid with stunning comeback

Elmer Moller, who secured his second Challenger title in Portugal on Sunday, qualified for his inaugural ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid on Tuesday by executing a remarkable comeback to defeat Polish player Kamil Majchrzak with scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
This victory over Majchrzak marks a significant milestone in Møller's career, as he has never before qualified for a main ATP tournament. Until now, Moller has participated in Challenger events, which are ranked just below the ATP level.
The identity of Moller’s opponent in the first round of the Madrid Open remains uncertain; however, it is possible that he could face Holger Rune in the third round, should both players advance that far in the tournament.
On Tuesday evening, Moller achieved his qualification for the main draw of the Madrid Open with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory against Kamil Majchrzak from Poland.
Despite being ranked 24 places lower than his opponent, Moller maintained his excellent form from the previous week. Last week, the 21-year-old Dane claimed his second Challenger title in Portugal, propelling him to a world ranking of 114.
Holger Rune also experienced a significant rise in the world rankings following his impressive victory over Carlos Alcaraz in Barcelona. Rune is seeded eighth in Madrid and has thus advanced to the second round, where he will compete against the winner of the match between Hungarian Fábián Marozsán and Italian Flavio Cobolli.
