Monfils wins 12th career ATP title

Gael Monfils, the 37-year-old French tennis veteran, showed his remarkable resilience as he overcame Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov, aged 24, to secure his 12th ATP title, marking his first triumph of the season in Stockholm on a memorable Sunday.
Monfils, previously ranked 140th, delivered a thrilling performance to clinch a hard-fought victory with a score of 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-3 against his 109th-ranked opponent.
This victory was a triumphant return for Monfils, his second title in the Swedish capital since his initial win back in 2011.
Monfils displayed great sportsmanship by acknowledging Pavel Kotov's commendable efforts. In Monfils' words,
"Credit to Pavel. He has had an incredible week and pushed me to the limit on the court. Today, I put in an extraordinary amount of effort, especially when facing those crucial break points in the second set.
I kept believing and fighting, and somehow, I managed to pull through.
"On his journey to victory, Monfils only dropped two sets, with this win marking his first title since his Adelaide triumph in January the previous year. This achievement will see him rise in the ATP rankings to the 89th position.
Pavel Kotov had high hopes of clinching his maiden title in his first-ever final appearance on that fateful Sunday.
