Morocco 3-0 Tanzania: Morocco start AFCON campaign with convincing victory over 10-man Tanzania

Morocco commenced their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) journey in impeccable style, securing a resounding 3-0 victory against a 10-man Tanzania side. It is worth noting that Tanzania is yet to taste their maiden triumph in an AFCON finals.
Morocco's opening match in the AFCON group stage against Tanzania was expected to be an easy win, but the Moroccans soon realized that their opponents were not going to give up easily.
The Moroccans had limited opportunities to score, and Youssef En-Nesyri will have been disappointed that he couldn't convert his effort from the edge of the area when Hakim Ziyech's cross fell to him.
Ziyech played a crucial role in Morocco's first goal as well. His powerful free-kick from a distance was too difficult for Aishi Manula to handle, and he could only parry it into the path of Romain Saïss, who gratefully turned it into the net. This was Saïss's second international goal since 2017.
Tanzania, with players from the English fifth-tier, were expected to struggle against the Moroccan team consisting of Champions League participants. The game was mostly dominated by Morocco, but their coach, Walid Regragui, may have been disappointed that they only had a one-goal lead at halftime.
Tanzania, considered rank outsiders before the match, faced an uphill battle. While they lacked attacking creativity, they made up for it with their strong defensive resilience, as they faced intense pressure on their goal.
Morocco's task of securing the victory was made easier when Tanzania was reduced to 10 men after Novatus Miroshi received his second yellow card for a reckless challenge.
Shortly thereafter, the elusive objective was finally achieved, as Azzedine Ounahi skillfully capitalized on the tired Tanzanian legs, effortlessly gliding into the penalty area and calmly slotting the ball home to increase his team's lead.
Adding salt to the wound, En-Nesyri swiftly scored another goal, compounding Tanzania's misery. Despite a fierce late offensive, Tanzania managed to avoid a complete catastrophe, suffering only a three-goal loss.
Although far from perfect, the situation could have been significantly grimmer considering they were playing with ten men.
