Morocco to build 115,000-seat stadium near Casablanca ahead of 2030 World Cup

Morocco has announced plans to construct a massive 115,000-seat stadium in Benslimane, near Casablanca, aiming for completion by 2027. This world-class facility, expected to be among the largest globally, will play a central role in the nation’s preparations as it co-hosts the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
"The stadium, one of the largest in the world, will cost up to 5 billion dirhams ($500 million) to build," according to the Moroccan government.
In addition to the new stadium, Morocco is upgrading and expanding existing venues. Fouzi Lekjaa, chairman of the country's World Cup organizing committee, shared that work on stadiums in Rabat and Tangier is expected to wrap up in the next two months. Following the Africa Cup of Nations in December, renovations will begin in World Cup host cities Agadir, Marrakech, and Fez.
To support the influx of visitors, Morocco is also boosting infrastructure across the board. This includes expanding hotel capacity, extending the high-speed rail network to Marrakech, and increasing airport capacity in Casablanca, Tangier, Rabat, and Fez.
By enhancing its sports facilities and infrastructure, Morocco aims to deliver an exceptional experience for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
