Mourinho on the verge of agreeing deal with Fenerbahce

Jose Mourinho's time away from the football world will be short-lived. After leaving his position as coach of Roma in January, the renowned Portuguese manager has wasted no time in finding a new opportunity.

According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho is expected to take charge of Fenerbahce in Turkey for the upcoming season. It is reported that he has agreed to a two-year contract with the Istanbul-based club, with the possibility of extending for another season.

The negotiations between Mourinho and Fenerbahce were facilitated by the well-known agent Jorge Mendes. Now, all that remains is the signing of the necessary paperwork to finalize the deal.

If the move goes through, Fenerbahce will become Mourinho's tenth club as a manager. Throughout his career, he has coached teams such as Benfica, Leiria, Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Roma.

Interestingly, Mourinho may reunite with former player Edin Dzeko, whom he briefly managed during his time at Roma. Additionally, Fenerbahce boasts other notable players like Brazilian Fred, whom Mourinho worked with at Manchester United, as well as Dusan Tadic and Michy Batshuayi.

Last season, Fenerbahce was led by Turkish coach Ismail Kartal, and under his guidance, the team only suffered one defeat in the league, accumulating an impressive 99 points. However, their efforts fell short as Galatasaray clinched the title with a remarkable 102 points. Fenerbahce's quest for their 20th Turkish championship has now extended to a decade.
