Mourinho unhappy over Roma draw

AS Roma's manager, Jose Mourinho, expressed his disappointment with some players adopting what he termed a "superficial approach" during the Europa League clash against Servette in Geneva. Despite taking the lead in the first half through Romelu Lukaku,

Roma was held to a 1-1 draw as Servette equalized with Chris Bedia shortly after halftime. This result places Roma second in Group G, trailing Slavia Prague by two points.

Mourinho, drawing on his extensive Champions League experience, emphasized his perplexity at the perceived lack of motivation in certain players during seemingly less crucial matches. He pointed out that there are consistently focused individuals in the squad, refraining from naming them explicitly, and criticized those with a more casual approach to such games.

Expressing his frustration, Mourinho lamented the team's failure to maintain intensity, especially during the crucial halftime period.

He highlighted the lack of a camera in the dressing room but stressed that he consistently emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant, especially when facing a home team trailing 1-0.

Looking ahead, Mourinho acknowledged the possibility of entering the playoffs if Roma finishes second in the group, but he downplayed it as a disaster, considering it both challenging and motivating. He anticipates another significant European night at a packed Olimpico in the event of a playoff.

Roma's final group match will be against bottom-placed Sheriff Tiraspol on December 14, while Servette, currently in third place, will visit Prague before moving to the Europa Conference League.
