Murray enjoys yet another exhilarating triumph by securing another Olympic double victory

Andy Murray, 37, shed tears of joy after he postponed his retirement from tennis by winning another thrilling Olympic doubles match with Dan Evans, 34.

They secured a spot in the quarterfinals at Roland Garros by defeating Belgium's Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 6-3, 6-7 (8/10), 11-9. The British pair saved two match points in the final-set tie-break, following their previous victory where they saved five match points.

Murray expressed his emotions, saying, "It's obviously unbelievably emotional and it was. You are unbelievably happy." He also mentioned that he was excited about their victory and the amazing finish, but also acknowledged that it takes a lot out of them.

Murray, who has secured three Grand Slam titles, achieved the top spot in the world rankings, and earned two Olympic singles gold medals, is set to retire following the conclusion of his Paris campaign.

This year, he faced a severe ankle injury and underwent surgery to eliminate a cyst on his spine, preventing him from participating in singles matches for the last time at Wimbledon.

Despite overcoming seven match points across two rounds, Murray emphasized that this does not guarantee he will end his career with a third gold medal.

"The margins are extremely narrow," Murray stated. "We must perform at a very high level in the next couple of days.

"Winning a match like today boosts your confidence and sends a message to your opponents. It shows that you can come back from behind, which builds belief.

"However, we cannot adopt a mindset of assuming things will just fall into place. We must remain focused for the next challenge."

Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, the third-seeded pair from the US, or the duo of Robin Haase and Jean-Julien Rojer from the Netherlands will be facing the British team in the next round.

A win in that match would secure their spot in the semi-finals.

Evans praised Murray, describing him as "amazing."

Evans also expressed his disbelief, saying, "I don't think he's ready to leave yet, is he? I can't imagine him retiring like that.

"We are on the verge of achieving something remarkable. Our performance tonight was outstanding."
