Nadal and Alcaraz down Dutch duo to reach quarter-finals at Olympics

The esteemed Spanish tennis duo of Rafa Nadal (38) and Carlos Alcaraz (21) advanced to the quarterfinals of the Olympic men's doubles event, achieving a victory over the Dutch pair of Tallon Griekspoor (28) and Wesley Koolhof (35) with scores of 6-4, 6-7, 10-2 at Roland Garros on Tuesday.
Following a significant defeat in singles against Novak Djokovic, Nadal showcased his resilience by delivering an impressive performance alongside his younger partner.
The pair, affectionately known as 'Nadalcraz', captivated a lively and enthusiastic audience on the sweltering Court Suzanne Lenglen, as they effectively utilized their combined strengths to pursue their aspiration for a gold medal.
Alcaraz executed a powerful forehand winner to secure a pivotal break of serve in the opening set, eliciting a roar of approval from Nadal.
Despite facing a formidable challenge from Koolhof, a former world number one in doubles, and Griekspoor, the second set saw them rallying back to win a tiebreak with a score of 7-2.
"Although we felt that our performance today was significantly improved compared to our first match, and we had more opportunities in the second set, we were unable to capitalize on them as they played exceptionally well," Nadal remarked.
Nadal and Alcaraz displayed great enthusiasm and determination, both on and off the court.
"We are not accustomed to playing doubles. To make it work well, we need to play with joy and high energy. And that's what we're trying to do.
"We have a good relationship off the court, and that helps our chemistry on the court," Nadal stated.
The duo is set to compete in the quarter-final on Wednesday evening against American fourth-seed pair Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek.
Earlier in the day, Alcaraz will also play a singles match against Russian Roman Safiullin, the world number 66, who is competing as a neutral athlete.
