Napoli 2-1 Juventus: Partenopei stage comeback to end Juve's unbeaten run

Napoli staged an electrifying comeback to defeat Juventus 2-1 in Saturday’s high-octane Serie A matchup, handing the visitors their first league loss of the season. Goals from Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa and Romelu Lukaku overturned Randal Kolo Muani’s debut strike, cementing Napoli’s dominance at the top of the table.

Juventus looked set to extend their unbeaten run when Kolo Muani, freshly signed on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, volleyed home a rebound two minutes before halftime. However, Napoli responded with grit and determination in the second half.

Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa equalized in the 57th minute, calmly slotting Matteo Politano’s cross into the corner. Just 12 minutes later, Napoli completed the turnaround after Romelu Lukaku converted a penalty following Manuel Locatelli’s clumsy challenge on Scott McTominay.

With this victory, Napoli remain top of the Serie A standings on 53 points, six ahead of second-placed Inter Milan, who have two games in hand. Juventus, meanwhile, sit fifth with 37 points, struggling to shake off a frustrating season that has now included 13 draws and their first defeat.

Juventus started strong, with Kenan Yildiz forcing a stunning point-blank save from Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret early in the game. Teun Koopmeiners missed a golden chance to follow up on the rebound, while Matteo Politano came closest for Napoli, grazing the crossbar with a long-range effort.

The visitors’ aggressive play kept Napoli on the back foot for much of the first half, and their efforts paid off when Kolo Muani pounced on a rebound to break the deadlock with a well-placed volley.

Napoli came out roaring after the break, driven by the energy of a packed stadium. Michele Di Gregorio produced a stunning save to deny Romelu Lukaku’s header, which was millimeters from crossing the line. But Napoli’s relentless pressure finally paid off when Zambo Anguissa’s equalizer leveled the match.

The decisive moment came in the 69th minute when Locatelli fouled McTominay in the box. Lukaku stepped up and calmly converted the penalty, securing all three points for Napoli.

Napoli continued to press for a third goal, with Cyril Ngonge’s late attempt blocked by Weston McKennie. As the final whistle blew, the stadium erupted in celebration, with Napoli’s players rushing to the crowd to savor the moment.
