Nathan Aspinall claims third Euro Tour Title at German Darts Championship

Nathan Aspinall continued his stellar 2025 campaign by clinching the German Darts Championship title on Sunday, defeating Dutch star Dirk van Duijvenbode 8-6 in a thrilling final. The victory marked Aspinall’s third European Tour triumph of the season, cementing his status as one of the most consistent and in-form players on the PDC circuit this year.

The Englishman has already lifted trophies at the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen and the European Darts Open in Leverkusen earlier this season, while narrowly missing out on a fourth title after a runner-up finish at the International Darts Open in April.

A High-Calibre Final Showdown

The final began with both players displaying top-level scoring and composure under pressure. Van Duijvenbode, known for his fiery energy and explosive style, started strong, hammering in multiple 180s and coming agonizingly close to a perfect nine-dart leg. He missed his eighth dart in the second leg but still wrapped it up with a dazzling 10-darter, setting the tone for a gripping contest.

At 2-2, Aspinall began to seize control. The Englishman broke throw to lead 4-2, then extended his advantage to 6-2 with an outstanding 301 finish in just six darts, combining a 180 and a 121 checkout in a clinical display of precision.

Aspinall had the chance to go 7-2 up but faltered on two darts at double. Van Duijvenbode capitalized, breaking back to spark hopes of a comeback. The Dutchman found rhythm again, reeling off legs and leveling the score at 6-6 with another crucial break.

But when the pressure peaked, it was Aspinall who rose above it. Regaining his scoring touch, “The Asp” held throw to move 7-6 ahead, then sealed the win with a decisive break of throw to clinch the title.

“Dirk pushed me all the way, and it took everything to get over the line,” Aspinall said after the match. “It’s been an unbelievable season for me, and to win three European titles in a year is something I’m really proud of.”

Aspinall’s 2025 form has been nothing short of remarkable. His success on the European Tour highlights his growing confidence and consistency on stage, with each win reinforcing his reputation as one of the sport’s most resilient and composed competitors.

Van Duijvenbode, despite the loss, showcased his trademark fighting spirit and heavy scoring, proving once again that he remains one of the biggest threats on the tour. As the season heads toward its final stretch, Aspinall’s performances position him as a major contender heading into the next televised majors, including the European Championship and the Players Championship Finals.

For fans, it’s clear: Nathan Aspinall is not just in form—he’s in command.
