NBA roundup: Booker and Suns secure win, Bucks end Cleveland's' streak

Devin Booker delivered yet another impressive scoring performance, leading the Phoenix Suns to secure their seventh consecutive win on Wednesday. Despite the dismissal of coach Adrian Griffin, the Milwaukee team managed to halt Cleveland's undefeated run.

Booker, who recorded an impressive 52-point performance in a win against New Orleans last Friday, followed it up with a 46-point display as the Phoenix Suns dominated the Dallas Mavericks in Texas, securing a convincing 132-109 victory.

The skilled point guard showcased his shooting prowess by sinking six out of ten three-pointers, while also contributing seven rebounds and three assists to his team's success.

Booker received support from Bradley Beal, who contributed 20 points, Grayson Allen with 15 points, and Kevin Durant with 12 points.

Despite Luka Doncic's impressive 34-point performance, including four three-pointers, the Mavericks were left disappointed by their second-half collapse after holding a 16-point lead in the second quarter.

The game took a dramatic turn in the third quarter when the Suns outscored the Mavericks 43-20, with Booker leading the charge by contributing 22 points during that period.

With this victory, the Phoenix Suns now hold a 26-18 record, placing them in fifth position in the Western Conference standings.

In other NBA action on Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks displayed no signs of the recent turmoil within the franchise as they comfortably defeated the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers with a score of 126-116.

Milwaukee made headlines by unexpectedly firing their head coach, Griffin, mid-season, despite having one of the best records in the league. The team has announced that former Philadelphia coach Doc Rivers will take over as the new head coach.

In the absence of Griffin, assistant coach Joe Prunty took charge of the Bucks' home game against the Cavaliers. The Cavs had previously thrashed Milwaukee 135-95 a week ago and arrived in Wisconsin on an eight-game winning streak.

Prunty watched with satisfaction as the Bucks' superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 35 points, securing 18 rebounds, and providing 10 assists to lead his team to victory.

Damian Lillard also showcased his skills with 28 points, while Khris Middleton added 24 points to contribute to the Bucks' success. Donovan Mitchell led the scoring for the Cavaliers with 23 points.

Prunty expressed his immense pride in the team's accomplishments after the win, acknowledging the difficulties they faced due to Griffin's sudden dismissal.

"It's certainly not an easy situation," Prunty admitted. "However, we understand that we have a job to do, and we discussed this as a team."

He emphasized that despite the challenges, they still have responsibilities, roles, and tasks to fulfill on the court. Moving forward is essential, but it is undeniably a tough circumstance.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves bounced back to their winning ways after consecutive losses by securing a 118-107 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Their previous defeat against the Charlotte Hornets, where Karl-Anthony Towns scored an impressive 62 points in a losing effort, was a disappointment.

However, the Timberwolves showed no signs of a third consecutive loss against the Wizards. They dominated the game and comfortably secured the win.

Anthony Edwards led the team's scoring with an impressive 38 points, while Towns had another solid performance with 27 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Frenchman Rudy Gobert showcased his defensive prowess with an outstanding 16 rebounds.

In other Wednesday games, the Memphis Grizzlies triumphed over the Miami Heat with a score of 105-96, and the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Houston Rockets 137-131 in overtime in Texas.
