NBA roundup: Brown's 29 points powers Celtics past Heat; Wolves dominate Lakers in blowout victory

Jaylen Brown scored 29 points as the Boston Celtics returned to form with a commanding 108-89 victory over the Miami Heat on Monday.

Having missed Boston's previous game, a 115-111 loss to Cleveland due to illness, Brown led a strong offensive display against a weakened Miami team at TD Garden.

In addition to his scoring, the shooting guard recorded seven rebounds and four assists, helping the Celtics improve their record to 17-4, positioning them second in the Eastern Conference, just behind the Cavaliers.

Payton Pritchard also shone with an impressive performance off the bench, sinking five three-pointers out of 12 attempts to contribute 25 points.

Derrick White, who was absent in the loss to Cleveland, made a significant impact for the defending champions, scoring 19 points, including five three-pointers.

Jayson Tatum added 18 points as Boston maintained a steady scoring pace, building a substantial double-digit lead midway through the third quarter and ultimately securing the win.

The Celtics' effectiveness from beyond the arc proved crucial, as they converted 19 of 55 three-point attempts, in stark contrast to Miami's struggles, where they managed only 8 of 35.

For Miami, Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr. were the leading scorers, each contributing 19 points.

In Minneapolis, the Timberwolves overwhelmed a struggling Los Angeles Lakers team, achieving a decisive 109-80 victory.

The Lakers briefly held the lead in the first quarter but were unable to compete thereafter, finishing with just 32 of 79 shooting from the field and making only six three-pointers out of 31 attempts.

Julius Randle was the leading scorer for Minnesota, contributing 18 points, while Rudy Gobert recorded 17 points along with 12 rebounds.

For the Lakers, point guard D'Angelo Russell was the top scorer with 20 points, and Anthony Davis added 12 points. LeBron James managed only 10 points, shooting 4-of-16 from the field.

In Atlanta, De'Andre Hunter scored 22 points, supported by Jalen Johnson and Dyson Daniels, who each contributed 19 points, leading the Hawks to a decisive 124-112 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

This win marked Atlanta's fourth consecutive victory, bringing their season record to 11-11. Conversely, the Pelicans remain at the bottom of the Western Conference, suffering their ninth straight loss.

In Chicago, the Bulls achieved a commanding 128-102 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, propelled by Nikola Vucevic's 21 points and a triple-double from Australian star Josh Giddey, who recorded 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.
