NBA roundup: Brunson and Knicks tame Warriors as Lakers romp past Hawks

On Monday, in San Francisco, the New York Knicks secured a commanding 119-112 win over the Golden State Warriors, with Jalen Brunson leading the charge by scoring an impressive 34 points. This wire-to-wire victory showcased the Knicks' dominance throughout the game.

The Warriors, coming off a high-scoring victory against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, found themselves at a disadvantage after New York took an early 20-6 lead in the first quarter at the Chase Center.

Brunson, the point guard, skillfully orchestrated the Knicks' offense, leading an injury-plagued team to an impressive victory that solidifies their position in the playoffs race.

Miles McBride provided scoring support with a career-best 29 points in only his sixth NBA start.

"We continue to discover ways to secure victories," Brunson commented. "Maintaining composure, staying confident, and sticking together."

However, the defeat was a setback for the inconsistent Warriors, who have a 17-18 record at home this season.

Golden State currently holds the 10th spot in the Western Conference, the final play-in berth. Stephen Curry led the team with 27 points.

Meanwhile, the Lakers responded to their loss against the Warriors with a dominant 136-105 win over the Atlanta Hawks in Los Angeles.

D'Angelo Russell contributed 27 points, sinking six out of ten three-point attempts, while LeBron James and Anthony Davis added 25 and 22 points, respectively.

The Lakers are positioned ninth in the West with a 37-32 record.

In other matchups on Monday, the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame a 15-point deficit to secure a hard-fought 108-103 victory against the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis.

Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert led the Cavaliers with 23 points each, while the Cleveland defense limited Tyrese Haliburton to just 14 points.

With this win, Cleveland improved to 43-25, maintaining the third spot in the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Jaylen Brown led the Boston scoring with 31 points in just three quarters, while Derrick White secured the first triple-double of his career to finish with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

In Salt Lake City, Anthony Edwards delivered a jaw-dropping dunk-of-the-season contender as the Minnesota Timberwolves rallied to defeat the Utah Jazz 114-104 on the road.

Edwards, who ended the game with 32 points, soared over the 6ft 9in (2.06m) John Collins in the third quarter for a career-defining highlight reel moment.

In Philadelphia, Tyrese Maxey wrapped up the game with 30 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds as the 76ers triumphed over the Miami Heat 98-91.

Despite the Heat's comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, the Sixers managed to maintain their lead and secure the victory, tying them with Miami at 37-30.
