NBA roundup: Cavaliers rebound from first loss of the season, Warriors keep rolling

Ty Jerome recorded 29 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers rebounded from their first loss of the season, achieving a decisive 128-100 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

The Cavaliers, whose impressive 15-game unbeaten streak was halted by the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, quickly put that defeat behind them, dominating the Pelicans from start to finish in front of their home fans.

Cleveland maintained control throughout the game against a struggling New Orleans team, which suffered its ninth defeat in ten outings.

After establishing a 69-55 lead at halftime, the Cavaliers intensified their efforts in the third quarter, outscoring the Pelicans 36-18 to build a commanding 32-point lead heading into the final quarter, ultimately securing the win with ease.

Following a challenging performance from beyond the arc in their previous game against Boston, the Cavaliers found their rhythm in three-point shooting against New Orleans.

Jerome excelled, making seven of his twelve three-point attempts, including six during a spectacular second quarter in which he scored 20 points.

Georges Niang also contributed significantly, hitting six three-pointers to finish with 20 points.

This victory improved Cleveland's record to 16-1, solidifying their position at the top of the Eastern Conference, while the Pelicans fell to 4-12, remaining just above the bottom of the Western Conference.

Cleveland's coach, Kenny Atkinson, praised Jerome's electrifying performance in the second quarter, which energized the home crowd.

"It was fantastic—such moments are rare in the NBA," Atkinson remarked. "It resembled a superstar performance, which is quite uncommon. It was a wonderful experience for the crowd, the team, and for Ty."

In other Wednesday matchups, Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded his third 40-point game of the season, scoring 41 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists in the Milwaukee Bucks' 122-106 victory over the Chicago Bulls.

Antetokounmpo received support from Brook Lopez, who added 21 points, and Damian Lillard, who contributed 20 points, as Milwaukee improved to 6-9 for the season, moving up to 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

In Memphis, Joel Embiid managed to put aside recent off-court issues to achieve a remarkable 35 points; however, this performance was insufficient to prevent the Philadelphia 76ers from suffering a 117-111 loss to the Grizzlies.

Following the Sixers' defeat to Miami on Monday, Embiid faced criticism from teammate Tyrese Maxey regarding his lateness during a tense discussion in the locker room.

Despite Embiid's season-high scoring effort, the team ultimately fell short. The 76ers now hold a record of 2-12 for the season, placing them at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

The Golden State Warriors improved to 11-3 in the Western Conference, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 120-97.

The Warriors established the lead midway through the first quarter and extended it to 31 points early in the third quarter before coasting to victory at the Chase Center.

Andrew Wiggins led the Warriors with 27 points, while Stephen Curry added 23.

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder, currently positioned second in the Western Conference, continued their chase of the Golden State Warriors with a 109-99 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jalen Williams was the standout scorer for the Thunder, contributing 30 points, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 28 points to the team's total.
