NBA reigning Most Valuable Player Embiid missed the Sixers' last two games due to ill health but returned with a bang to deliver a season-high performance in a slender victory on the road against the Wizards.

Embiid delivered his second standout performance against the Wizards, scoring 48 points at last night.

Despite impressive figures, including 13 rebounds and seven assists, he confessed to feeling unwell, enduring chest discomfort throughout. The Sixers' triumph maintained their fourth position in the Eastern Conference, trailing Boston by a two-game margin.

Tyrese Maxey contributed 26 points, and De'Anthony Melton added 19. The Wizards, spearheaded by Jordan Poole's 23 points, endured their 17th loss, retaining a penultimate position in the East.

Elsewhere, despite Nikola Jokic's triple-double, the Denver Nuggets succumbed to a 111-102 defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers. Jokic registered 22 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists, yet Paul George's 25 points steered the Clippers to victory.

Luka Doncic's remarkable performance with 40 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, encompassing a first-half triple-double, propelled the Dallas Mavericks to a 147-97 triumph over the Utah Jazz. Doncic's feat propelled him past Larry Bird on the NBA's all-time triple-double list.

San Antonio's woes persisted with a 102-94 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, marking their 15th consecutive defeat. Rudy Gobert's 16 points and 20 rebounds fueled the Wolves' triumph.

In another matchup, Steph Curry's 31 points guided the Golden State Warriors to a 110-106 victory over the Trail Blazers, enhancing their record to 10-11.

Desmond Bane's explosive 49-point display led the Memphis Grizzlies to a comfortable 116-102 win against the Pistons. Memphis improved to 6-14, while Detroit remained at the bottom of the East with a 2-19 record.
