NBA roundup: Gueye, Risacher lead depleted Hawks past Lakers

Mouhamed Gueye and Zaccharie Risacher combined for 40 points as the undermanned Atlanta Hawks secured a convincing 122-102 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.
Gueye delivered a career-best 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting while Risacher contributed 19 points to establish an early rhythm as the Hawks halted the Lakers' five-game winning run. Atlanta competed without four starting players: Nickeil Alexander-Walker (back), Jalen Johnson (quad), Kristaps Porzingis (illness management) and Trae Young (MCL), in addition to Luke Kennard (flu-like symptoms).
The Hawks featured seven players reaching double-digit scoring, including rookie Asa Newell with a career-high 17 points and four steals. Dyson Daniels flirted with a triple-double, posting 10 points, eight rebounds and 13 assists.
LA's Luka Doncic, who entered the contest averaging 40 points, accumulated 22 in the opening half but went scoreless in the third quarter and remained on the bench throughout the fourth quarter as the game slipped away. Doncic finished with 11 assists and five rebounds alongside five turnovers. The Lakers continued to miss Austin Reaves (groin) and LeBron James (sciatica). Maxi Kleber made his season debut after recovering from an abdominal strain.

Cleveland erased a 19-point disadvantage to extend its winning streak to four contests. The Cavaliers closed the game with the final 12 points, including an eight-point surge from Mitchell, after Tre Jones converted a pair of free throws to give Chicago a 122-116 advantage with 1:47 remaining. Mitchell connected on 9-for-14 shooting in the second half, including 5-for-7 from three-point territory.
Isaac Okoro scored 19 points to pace seven Bulls players in double figures, while reserve Jalen Smith recorded a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Devin Booker scored 21 points with 10 rebounds and nine assists as Phoenix captured its second victory in three days against Los Angeles with a 114-103 decision at Inglewood, California.

Ivica Zubac scored 21 points with 15 rebounds and John Collins added 19 points for the Clippers, who suffered their fourth straight defeat and fell to 3-3 at home after opening the season 3-0. Bradley Beal scored 12 points for Los Angeles against his former team.
Naji Marshall leads Dallas Mavericks past Washington Wizards
Naji Marshall scored 30 points and secured a crucial rebound in the closing seconds to help Dallas end a four-game losing streak with a 111-105 victory over host Washington.
The Mavericks maintained a three-point lead when Marshall grabbed an offensive rebound of a missed Brandon Williams jumper and was fouled with 17.2 seconds remaining. He converted one of his two free throws to provide Dallas the cushion it needed.
The Mavericks played a fifth consecutive game without star Anthony Davis, and they also missed Dereck Lively, Klay Thompson and Dante Exum. The Wizards, who have now dropped eight straight, were paced by CJ McCollum with 25, Cam Whitmore with 19 and Alex Sarr contributed 17.

Nikola Jovic scored a career-high 29 points off the bench and made a critical block late in the game to help host Miami outlast Portland 136-131.
Jovic's personal-best led all Heat scorers and paced the Heat bench to 63 points. Teammate Norman Powell scored 22 points for his fifth consecutive game with at least 21.

Nikola Jokic's triple-double leads Denver Nuggets past Indiana Pacers
Nikola Jokic had 32 points, 14 assists and 14 rebounds for his sixth triple-double of the season, and host Denver defeated Indiana 117-100.
Jokic also had a season-high eight turnovers and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 17 points for Denver, which played without injured guard Jamal Murray (left calf tightness) and forward Aaron Gordon (left hamstring). Peyton Watson started in place of Gordon and had a season-high 16 points.
Aaron Nesmith tallied 25 points, Andrew Nembhard returned from a seven-game absence due to a left shoulder strain to score 22 points and Pascal Siakam finished with 14 points for Indiana. Monte Morris, signed Friday, totaled three points in 15 minutes.
