NBA roundup: Knicks rebound to crush Pacers, Nuggets Nuggets maintain their winning streak

Jalen Brunson showcased a stellar performance on Tuesday, leading the New York Knicks to a commanding 121-91 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, giving them a 3-2 series lead.

After a dominant performance in Game 4 on Friday night in Indianapolis, the Knicks are on the verge of clinching a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 24 years.

Described as a fantastic performance, Brunson shone brightly with 44 points, seven assists, and four rebounds.

Coach Tom Thibodeau commended Brunson for his selflessness and teamwork, highlighting his impact beyond the box score.

New York excelled in rebounding, with Hartenstein grabbing 17 boards and Hart snagging 11.

Despite concerns of fatigue and a foot injury, Brunson remained sharp, powering through with an outstanding 40-point game, setting a new playoff record with 28 points in the first half.

His clutch plays, especially a three-pointer to extend the lead to 20 points, secured the victory for the Knicks.

Thibodeau praised Brunson's resilience and mental toughness, noting his focused approach to the game.

The Pacers started well but struggled to contain the Knicks' momentum, who closed the first half with a commanding lead.

Thibodeau emphasized the team's consistent effort and resilience and remained cautious as they aim for one more win to advance.

Siakam led the Pacers with 22 points, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Knicks' strong showing.

However, following the disappointment of losing the first two games of the series, Jokic is well aware that a challenging test awaits them in Minnesota on Thursday.

"We are still in a difficult position and we refuse to give up. Our determination to win remains strong, and our objective is to secure a victory in Minnesota," he stated.

Denver's head coach, Michael Malone, expressed satisfaction with his team's approach in handling the threat posed by Anthony Edwards.

"We recognized the need to employ different strategies against Anthony Edwards, as he single-handedly poses a significant threat," commented Nuggets head coach Michael Malone.

"We utilized trapping techniques, double-teaming, and swift defensive rotations, which required immense effort from our players. Their commitment to executing these tactics played a crucial role in securing the victory," he added.
