NBA roundup: Lillard buzzer-beater lifts Bucks past Kings in overtime

Damian Lillard sank a remarkable three-pointer at the buzzer, securing a thrilling 143-142 NBA overtime triumph for the Milwaukee Bucks against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.

In the extra session, the Kings held a lead of up to six points, but Milwaukee's Brook Lopez narrowed the gap to one with a three-pointer in the final 11.5 seconds. De'Aaron Fox of Sacramento missed one of two free throws, and then Damian Lillard sealed the game with a game-winning shot from beyond the arc.

Lillard, despite struggling with his shooting throughout the game, expressed confidence in taking the last shot. He finished with 29 points, connecting on only nine of his 23 attempts from the floor.

Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists for the Bucks.

Meanwhile, Domantas Sabonis achieved a triple-double of 21 points, 15 assists, and 13 rebounds, while Fox led the scoring with 32 points for Sacramento. The Kings' coach, Mike Brown, was ejected early in the fourth quarter after disputing a non-call on a foul against Fox.

Despite the setback, Sacramento fought back, and Fox tied the game at 128-128 with a driving layup in the final second of regulation. The Kings had a four-point advantage with 33.9 seconds remaining in overtime.

Lillard credited Lopez's three-pointer as the pivotal moment of the game, opening up the opportunity for his game-winning shot. He mentioned that the open space on the court was where he thrives.

In another game, the Denver Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokic's 25 points, defeated the Indiana Pacers 117-109. Jokic also contributed 12 rebounds and nine assists. Michael Porter Jr. and Jamal Murray each scored 25 points, while Aaron Gordon added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets.

The Nuggets showcased their offensive prowess by shooting a season-high 64.8 percent from the field. They also limited the NBA's highest-scoring offense to one of its lowest point totals this season.

Although the Nuggets committed a season-worst 21 turnovers, coach Michael Malone praised Porter for his outstanding performance, particularly his seven three-pointers, describing it as a complete basketball game.

The Timberwolves utilized a dominant third quarter to establish a significant lead in a closely contested game, extending it to a maximum of 17 points before fending off a late surge from the Clippers.

Anthony Edwards showcased his scoring prowess by contributing 33 points, while Rudy Gobert made a valuable impact with 15 points and an impressive 18 rebounds for the Timberwolves.

On the other side, Kawhi Leonard led the charge for the Clippers with 26 points, managing to narrow the deficit to just three points with slightly over a minute remaining. However, Gobert's clutch performance, sinking four free throws, proved crucial in helping the Timberwolves secure the victory.

Meanwhile, in Miami, Bam Adebayo displayed his versatility by recording 24 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in the Heat's commanding 104-87 triumph over the Charlotte Hornets.

Despite missing the services of injured players Jimmy Butler and Kevin Love, the Heat dominated the game, leading by as many as 24 points in the second quarter. The only setback for Miami was the premature departure of rookie guard Jaime Jaquez Jr. due to a groin injury.
