NBA roundup: Pacers battle through Haliburton injury to sink Celtics

Haliburton, a prominent player in the league, was assisted off the court by his teammates following a painful fall towards the end of the second quarter at Indiana's Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena.
The point guard displayed discomfort after unintentionally performing the splits while attempting to change direction while driving towards the basket.
The Pacers later confirmed that Haliburton, who did not return to the game, had sustained a left hamstring strain.
In Haliburton's absence, Bennedict Mathurin stepped up and contributed 26 points from the bench, leading the team's comeback in the second half after the Pacers trailed 68-59 at halftime.
The game reached an intense conclusion when it seemed that Boston had the advantage after the Pacers were deemed to have fouled Jaylen Brown in the closing seconds, with the score tied at 131-131.
However, Indiana challenged the call, resulting in the foul being overturned and the score remaining level, granting the Pacers one final opportunity to secure the victory.
With just one second remaining on the clock, Boston's Kristaps Porzingis fouled Mathurin, the Pacers' shooting guard, who promptly sank two free throws to secure the win.
Mathurin expressed that with the loss of the team's best player, his role was to step up and contribute to the team's victory.
He mentioned that despite Ty Haliburton's absence, the team knew what needed to be done and everyone had to be prepared to play when called upon. He also highlighted the team's depth and the impact that various players can have on the game.
The Pacers' bench played a significant role, scoring a total of 75 points, while the starters contributed 58 points. On the other hand, Boston's scoring was led by Brown with 40 points, followed by Jrue Holiday with 21 points and Porzingis with 19 points.
Despite the loss, Boston remains at the top of the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 28-8, while Indiana improved to 21-15 and secured the fifth spot.
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle praised his team's response to Haliburton's injury and expressed hope that it isn't serious. He mentioned that Haliburton would undergo an MRI on Tuesday.
In other games, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Washington Wizards 136-128, with impressive performances from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren. The Milwaukee Bucks, on the other hand, continued their recent slump with a 132-116 home defeat to the Utah Jazz. Utah dominated the game and secured a comfortable victory.
Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson led the Pacers with 21 points each, while Giannis Antetokounmpo topped the Bucks' scoring with 25 points, completing a triple-double with 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo were the leading scorers for the Miami Heat, contributing 28 and 22 points respectively, in their close 120-113 victory over the Houston Rockets.
In Charlotte, Terry Rozier had an impressive performance with 39 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Hornets from losing 119-112 to the Chicago Bulls.
Coby White led the Bulls' scoring with 27 points. The Los Angeles Clippers displayed their dominance in a commanding 138-111 win against the Phoenix Suns in their Western Conference matchup.
Despite Kevin Durant's game-high 30 points for the Suns, the Clippers' well-rounded offense proved to be too much, with Paul George adding 25 points. Notably, six Clippers players reached double figures in scoring.
