Nelly Korda wins Seri Pak Championship title after dramatic playoff

Nelly Korda sank a birdie putt during the initial playoff hole, defeating Ryann O'Toole in the LPGA Seri Pak Championship. This victory marked Korda's second consecutive title win and ensured her reclaiming of the world number one ranking.

Korda secured her 10th LPGA title at Palos Verdes Golf Club after battling through challenging windy conditions, finishing tied with O'Toole at nine-under par 275.

Despite leading by three strokes, Korda closed with back-to-back bogeys in a two-under-par 69, while O'Toole's five-under 66 tied them for the lead.

The final round was chaotic due to the cold wind, affecting shots and causing balls to move on some greens, with Ruffels and Lee finishing tied for second on 276.

Shin Ji-yai, a former world number one, finished with a two-over 73, joining a group on 277 that included Suwannapura and Lee, as Korda described the weekend as "brutal" but acknowledged the beauty of the game.

Korda, with two birdies and a bogey on the front nine, made a significant move with a rare birdie at the 12th hole, where she hit out of the rough and sank a 12-foot putt to tie for the lead at nine-under.

She then took sole possession of the lead at the 14th hole with an eagle putt that gave her a three-shot advantage at 11-under.

However, she faced some challenges with a bogey at the 15th hole and settled for a birdie at the 16th. Unfortunately, she bogeyed the 17th and 18th holes. Korda admitted that after making the eagle, she became a bit nervous and made some mistakes.

On the other hand, O'Toole finished strong with birdies at the 16th and 17th holes, keeping her within reach of the lead.

She made a crucial par-saving putt at the last hole, which put her in a playoff. O'Toole expressed her pride in being in this position and mentioned that it was her first-ever playoff.

She was aware of the possibility of a playoff when Korda's ball went through the green at the 18th hole, acknowledging the difficulty of the subsequent up and down.
