Nets defeat Bulls 118-109 while hitting season-high 25 3-pointers

On Sunday night, the Brooklyn Nets showcased an outstanding performance, clinching a 118-109 victory over the Chicago Bulls while setting remarkable NBA records. Spencer Dinwiddie led the charge with an impressive 24-point contribution, while the Nets collectively made an astounding 25 3-pointers, a season-best achievement in the league.
Notably, Lonnie Walker IV and Royce O’Neale were key players in this 3-point barrage, each sinking six shots from beyond the arc. Additionally, Mikal Bridges made a significant impact with four successful 3-pointers. This incredible display shattered the previous season-high of 23 3-pointers set by Dallas earlier in the season.
The Nets' second quarter was historic, setting a franchise record by netting 11 3-pointers, contributing to a total of 16 by halftime. Although they fell short of the franchise's overall record of 27 and the NBA's record of 29 3-pointers in a single game, their exceptional performance highlighted their prowess from long range.
Coach Jacques Vaughn praised his team's unselfish play and ball movement, emphasizing how their collective effort and selflessness resulted in a rewarding outcome. Walker and O’Neale's combined 40-point contribution, along with Bridges' 15 points, played a pivotal role in securing Brooklyn's victory. Their cohesive energy and synchronization on the court were evident, complementing their sharpshooting abilities.
Despite a valiant effort by Chicago, led by DeMar DeRozan's 27 points and notable performances from Coby White, Zach LaVine, and Patrick Williams, the Bulls couldn't contain Brooklyn's relentless offensive display. Chicago's coach, Billy Donovan, acknowledged the challenge posed by the Nets' exceptional shooting and highlighted the importance of learning from adversity rather than yielding to it.
The Nets faced the game without several key players due to injuries, yet they showcased depth and resilience, proving their capability to deliver even in challenging circumstances. Looking ahead, the Bulls will take on Boston in the NBA In-Season Tournament, while the Nets are set to host Toronto, promising more exciting matchups in the league.
