New York Jets request interviews with six coaching candidates, including Bills' Joe Brady

The New York Jets have sought to interview six coordinators and assistants for the head coach position as of Monday.

Among those reported are offensive coordinators Arthur Smith (Pittsburgh Steelers), Joe Brady (Buffalo Bills), and Bobby Slowik (Houston Texans), as well as defensive coordinators Aaron Glenn (Detroit Lions) and Vance Joseph (Denver Broncos), all of whom are participating in playoff games this season.

Additionally, the Jets have requested an interview with Brian Griese, the quarterbacks coach for the San Francisco 49ers.

This report follows the team's previous head coaching interviews with former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera and former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel.

The Jets dismissed former head coach Robert Saleh mid-season after a 2-3 start, finishing the year with a 3-9 record under interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.

Smith and the Steelers are set to face the Baltimore Ravens in Saturday's Wild Card matchup. His offense ranked 23rd this season, placing 16th in points per game. Pittsburgh enters the playoffs on a four-game losing streak, including a loss to Baltimore.

Brady's Bills finished the season with the 10th-ranked offense and second in points per game, preparing to compete against the seventh-seeded Broncos this weekend.

Under Slowik, the Texans' offense ranked 22nd this season, following a challenging year for quarterback C.J. Stroud after a strong rookie campaign. They will face the Chargers in Houston on Saturday.

Despite facing injury challenges, the Lions' defense, led by Aaron Glenn, recently achieved a significant 31-9 victory against a Minnesota Vikings offense that averaged over 25 points per game this season.

Joseph's Broncos defense ranked seventh in the league this year, allowing the third fewest points per game (18.3), making his candidacy particularly compelling among the applicants for the head coach position.
