Newly promoted Como sign former Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina

Reina, who has had stints at major European clubs such as Barcelona, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, will serve as a backup goalkeeper for Pau Lopez, who is expected to join from Marseille.
After being released by La Liga side Villarreal, Reina is returning to Italy. He previously won the Italian Cup in 2014 during his first tenure at Napoli and has also played for AC Milan and Lazio.
With 36 international caps, Reina was part of the squads that clinched the World Cup and two European Championships between 2008 and 2012.
He will be joining former La Roja teammate Cesc Fabregas at ambitious Como, who will begin their first top-flight season in 21 years on August 19 against Juventus.
Como has been active in the transfer market this summer, securing the services of five players, including Italy international forward Andrea Belotti. The club is also pursuing former France defender Raphael Varane.
Backed by tobacco giants Djarum, Como has made significant strides since its acquisition in 2019 following several bankruptcies. The club has cultivated a glamorous image, thanks to its stunning location on Lake Como in northern Italy.
Como faced backlash on Tuesday after one of their players mistakenly referred to South Korea forward Hwang Hee-chan as Hollywood action star 'Jackie Chan' during a contentious friendly match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The match, which Como lost 1-0 in Marbella on Monday, was further marred by Wolves' Daniel Podence receiving a red card for his involvement in a violent altercation that followed the incident.
Como's attempt to downplay the situation in a statement only fueled more criticism, as they claimed the player's words were not meant to be derogatory and accused Wolves players of overreacting.
