NFL dominate Christmas Day with record-breaking 65 million viewers, leaving the NBA trailing

The NFL achieved a record-breaking viewership of 65 million for its two games on Christmas Day, significantly surpassing the NBA's audience figures.

The matchups between the Chiefs and Steelers, as well as the Ravens and Texans, each attracted an average of over 24 million viewers, peaking at 27 million during Beyoncé's halftime performance, marking them as the most streamed games in NFL history.

In contrast, the five NBA games collectively garnered just over 25 million viewers, averaging 5.25 million per game, with the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors drawing the highest viewership at 7.7 million.

Fans from more than 200 countries watched the Chiefs versus Steelers game, and this number surged for the subsequent Ravens versus Texans matchup.

The Lakers triumphed over the Warriors in a thrilling contest, which concluded with LeBron James making a notably controversial statement.

The Chiefs triumphed over the Steelers with a score of 29-10, securing the top seed in the AFC and home-field advantage for the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes delivered an outstanding performance, throwing for 320 yards and three touchdowns, while Travis Kelce became the franchise's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns (77), surpassing Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez.

The Ravens dominated the Texans in a 31-2 rout, with MVP candidate Lamar Jackson accumulating 255 total yards and three touchdowns, breaking the all-time rushing record for quarterbacks previously held by Michael Vick.

Additionally, Derrick Henry contributed significantly with 147 rushing yards on 27 carries and a touchdown, setting a new single-season franchise record with 16 touchdowns.

The Chiefs are set to travel to Denver for their concluding match of the season, while the Ravens will return home to compete against the Cleveland Browns, where a victory would secure consecutive AFC North championships for them.
