NFL roundup: Commanders stun Eagles, Lions, Vikings, and Bills secure crucial victories

Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels delivered an impressive performance on Sunday, throwing five touchdown passes as the Commanders ended Philadelphia's 10-game winning streak in the NFL with a narrow 36-33 victory.
The game was particularly challenging for the Eagles, who lost quarterback Jalen Hurts to a concussion during the first quarter.
In a remarkable fourth quarter, the Commanders scored 22 points, culminating in a nine-yard touchdown pass from Daniels to Jamison Crowder with just six seconds remaining, securing a victory that had appeared improbable.
The Eagles, who had maintained an undefeated record since September, were forced to continue without Hurts for the majority of the match after he sustained a head injury. Kenny Pickett stepped in as his replacement, passing for 143 yards, along with one touchdown and one interception. As a result of this defeat, the Eagles, now at 12-3, fell out of contention for the best record in the NFC and were unable to clinch the NFC East division title.
"The game's never over until the clock hits zero," remarked Daniels following the victory, which not only kept the Commanders' playoff aspirations alive but also eliminated Dallas and San Francisco from the race.
"It feels awesome," he added. "Everybody can enjoy their Christmas now."
In the meantime, NFC North rivals Detroit and Minnesota both improved their records to 13-2. The Detroit Lions maintained their position at the top of the NFC, achieving a franchise-record 13th victory by defeating the Bears 34-17 in Chicago.
Following a setback against Buffalo that ended their 11-game winning streak, the Lions surged to a 20-point lead, setting a new franchise record for points scored in a single season with 493 thus far.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff excelled, throwing for 336 yards and three touchdowns, including an impressive 82-yard touchdown pass to Jameson Williams, who recorded a career-high 143 receiving yards on five receptions.
Jahmyr Gibbs achieved a remarkable performance, rushing for 109 yards and scoring a touchdown, while the Lions executed a clever play in which Goff feigned a stumble, allowing tight end Sam LaPorta to receive a 21-yard touchdown pass during the opening drive of the second half.
In Seattle, Minnesota quarterback Sam Darnold connected with Justin Jefferson for his third touchdown pass of the game with 3:51 remaining, securing the Vikings' eighth consecutive victory.
Just moments prior, the Seahawks had taken their first lead of the game when quarterback Geno Smith found AJ Barner for a four-yard touchdown pass.
After Seattle kicker Jason Myers failed to convert a 60-yard field goal attempt with under two minutes left, the Seahawks' final chance was dashed when Theo Jackson intercepted a pass from Smith in the closing minute.
The Los Angeles Rams maintained their dominance in the NFC West with a 19-9 win over the New York Jets.
After trailing 9-6 at halftime, the Rams equalized at 9-9 with Joshua Karty's 38-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter.
The Rams then capitalized on a turnover caused by a strip sack of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford completed a three-play drive with an 11-yard touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Higbee, who made his season debut following a knee injury sustained in last year's playoffs.
Karty concluded the scoring with a 45-yard field goal, leading the Rams, who began the season with a 1-4 record, to a 9-6 standing at the top of the NFC West.
In Atlanta, rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. made his debut start in place of the struggling Kirk Cousins, throwing for 202 yards in a decisive 34-7 victory over the New York Giants.
The Atlanta defense played a crucial role, with safety Jessie Bates and outside linebacker Matthew Judon each returning interceptions of Giants quarterback Drew Lock for touchdowns.
The Cincinnati Bengals kept their playoff aspirations alive with a 24-6 triumph over the Cleveland Browns.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow achieved a remarkable feat by throwing three touchdown passes, while wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase recorded six receptions for 97 yards. This performance elevated Chase's season total to 1,510 yards, thereby surpassing his own franchise record for a single season.
Bills Overcome Patriots
The Buffalo Bills maintained their pursuit of the top seed and home-field advantage in the AFC by overcoming a 14-0 deficit to secure a 24-21 victory against the New England Patriots.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen experienced a subpar performance, completing 16 of 29 passes for 154 yards. He later reported experiencing numbness in his hand following a hit to his elbow.
"It wasn't our best effort - something we'll learn from," stated Allen, as the Bills continue to trail the Kansas City Chiefs in the competition for the AFC's No. 1 seed.
Additionally, the Miami Dolphins sustained their playoff aspirations with a 29-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
