NFL Roundup: Unbeaten Chiefs Roll Over 49ers, Lions End Vikings' Perfect Run

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to be the sole unbeaten team in the NFL following a remarkable 28-18 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in their Super Bowl rematch on Sunday.
The only other team that entered week seven without a loss, the Minnesota Vikings, experienced their first defeat of the season, succumbing to a 31-29 loss against their divisional rival, Detroit.
The journey to Santa Clara presented the Chiefs with their most significant challenge of the season thus far, and Coach Andy Reid's squad demonstrated their determination to defend their Super Bowl title with a performance that combined a formidable defense and the astute quarterbacking of Patrick Mahomes.
Kareem Hunt contributed two rushing touchdowns, establishing a 14-3 lead for the Chiefs in the second quarter. However, the 49ers responded after Mahomes threw an interception, with Brock Purdy orchestrating a seven-play touchdown drive that culminated in a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Despite Purdy's efforts, which included three interceptions, he was intercepted by Christian Roland-Wallace, allowing Mahomes to capitalize on the ensuing possession.
Mahomes executed a remarkable 33-yard scramble to the San Francisco four-yard line and capped off the drive with a powerful run up the middle for a touchdown, extending the lead to 21-12.
Purdy had an opportunity to reduce the deficit, but his pass intended for Chris Conley in the end zone was intercepted by Jaden Hicks. Kansas City subsequently scored again, with Mecole Hardman sprinting in for an 18-yard touchdown.
A late touchdown pass from Purdy to Bell proved insufficient for a 49ers comeback, leaving them with a 3-4 record for the season.
Gibbs shines for the Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for two touchdowns and accumulated 116 yards on 15 carries for the Detroit Lions, who now lead the NFC North and the conference, sharing a 5-1 record with Minnesota.
The Vikings initially took a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to a 34-yard touchdown run by Aaron Jones and a 57-yard field goal by Will Reichard.
However, Detroit seized control of the game with three touchdowns in a dynamic second quarter.
Gibbs made a significant impact by sprinting 45 yards to put the Lions on the scoreboard, followed by quarterback Jared Goff's connection with Amon-Ra St. Brown for a 35-yard touchdown pass.
Gibbs capped off a 72-yard drive with an 8-yard rush, allowing Detroit to take a 21-10 lead at halftime.
The Vikings responded as quarterback Sam Darnold located Justin Jefferson with a 25-yard touchdown pass into the end zone.
In reply, Goff found Kalif Raymond with a short pass to the left, resulting in a 21-yard touchdown that extended Detroit's lead to 28-17.
The Vikings narrowed the Lions' advantage to five points with two field goals by Reichard in the fourth quarter, but a fumble by Detroit running back David Montgomery was recovered by Minnesota's Ivan Pace, who returned it 36 yards for a touchdown.
Despite failing to convert a two-point attempt, the Vikings left the Lions trailing by a single point. However, Detroit secured the victory with a 44-yard field goal from Jake Bates.
Minnesota had one final opportunity to maintain their unbeaten streak, but Trevor Nowaske's sack of Darnold concluded the game.
The Green Bay Packers currently sit third in the NFC North but remain competitive after a thrilling 24-22 victory against the visiting Houston team.
Brandon McManus delivered a decisive 45-yard field goal as time expired, propelling the Packers to a 5-2 record following a game in which quarterback Jordan Love passed for 220 yards and three touchdowns.
In contrast, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud struggled, completing only 10 of 21 passes for 86 yards, while running back Joe Mixon carried the load with two touchdowns and 115 yards on 25 attempts.
The Washington Commanders (5-2) suffered a setback with the loss of quarterback Jayden Daniels due to a rib injury; however, backup Marcus Mariota stepped in effectively, throwing two touchdown passes in a decisive 40-7 victory over the struggling Carolina Panthers (1-6).
Saquon Barkley made a significant impact against his former team, the New York Giants, rushing for 176 yards and scoring a touchdown as the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed 28-3 on the road.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts contributed to the win with two rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown to AJ Brown, helping the Eagles improve to a record of 4-2.
Despite the addition of wide receiver Davante Adams, who reunited with his former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets could not break their losing streak, suffering a fourth consecutive defeat with a score of 37-5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson, who started in place of Justin Fields, threw for 264 yards, recorded two touchdown passes, and added a rushing touchdown, leading Pittsburgh to a 5-2 record.
