NFL Roundup: Vikings edge past Jets, Commanders dominate Browns

The Minnesota Vikings, led by quarterback Sam Darnold, who was originally drafted by the New York Jets, secured a hard-fought 23-17 victory over the Jets, thanks to a strong defensive showing. Despite facing a formidable Jets defense, Darnold and the Vikings capitalized early, building a 17-0 lead in the second quarter.

Minnesota’s defense proved crucial, especially in the closing moments when Aaron Rodgers orchestrated a late-game drive in hopes of a comeback. With the Jets trailing 23-17 and aiming for a touchdown to steal the win, Rodgers’ 3rd & 10 pass intended for Mike Williams was intercepted by Stephon Gilmore, sealing the game for the Vikings.

The Vikings’ early lead came from a field goal and a 63-yard interception return for a touchdown by Andrew Van Ginkel. C.J. Ham added a two-yard rushing touchdown to put Minnesota up 17-0. However, the Jets found life when Rodgers connected with Allen Lazard for a touchdown just before halftime, cutting the lead to 17-7.

In the fourth quarter, Rodgers hit Garrett Wilson for a one-yard touchdown, narrowing the score to 20-17. However, despite throwing for 244 yards and two touchdowns, Rodgers' third interception of the game ended the Jets’ hopes, leaving New York with a 2-3 record on the season.

Cardinals Stun 49ers with Late Comeback Victory

The San Francisco 49ers suffered their third loss of the season in a surprising 24-23 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals. Leading 23-10 at halftime, the 49ers seemed poised for victory, but Kyler Murray and the Cardinals had other plans.

Murray connected with Elijah Higgins for a two-yard touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion. A 35-yard field goal from Chad Ryland put the Cardinals ahead by one point late in the fourth quarter. With 1:37 remaining, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was intercepted by Kyzir White, sealing the upset for Arizona.

Commanders Cruise to Victory Over Browns, Improve to 4-1

The Washington Commanders moved to a 4-1 record for the first time since 2008, following a commanding 34-13 win over the Cleveland Browns. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Dyami Brown just before halftime, giving Washington a 24-3 lead at the break.

Bryan Robinson Jr. added two rushing touchdowns, while Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson struggled, leaving the field before a crucial fourth-and-goal play that resulted in the Browns settling for a field goal. Cleveland now falls to 1-4.

Texans’ Last-Second Field Goal Sinks Bills

The Houston Texans improved to 4-1 after a dramatic 23-20 victory over the Buffalo Bills, courtesy of a 59-yard game-winning field goal from Kevin Fairbairn. The Bills, who trailed 20-3 early in the third quarter, managed to tie the game but faltered in their final possession. After quarterback Josh Allen threw three consecutive incomplete passes near his own end zone, the Texans capitalized on the ensuing punt, setting up Fairbairn’s clutch kick.

Burrow’s Big Day Overshadowed as Ravens Edge Bengals in Overtime

Despite Joe Burrow’s stellar performance with five touchdown passes and 392 yards, the Cincinnati Bengals fell 41-38 in overtime to the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar Jackson threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Ravens to victory. Running back Derrick Henry also played a pivotal role, rushing for 92 yards as the Ravens secured the win.

Jaguars Avoid Winless Season with Narrow Victory Over Colts

The Jacksonville Jaguars secured their first win of the season with a thrilling 37-34 victory against Joe Flacco and the Indianapolis Colts, ensuring no team remains winless in the NFL this season.

Giants Block Late Seahawks Field Goal in Dramatic Win

The New York Giants pulled off a 29-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks after a blocked 47-yard field goal attempt. Bryce Ford-Wheaton recovered the ball and returned it for a touchdown, sealing the win for the Giants.

The Dallas Cowboys earned a dramatic 20-17 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, scoring a game-winning touchdown on fourth down with just 20 seconds remaining.
