NHL roundup: Ducks rally past Habs, Rangers triumph at home

The National Hockey League (NHL) concluded the week with several games on Sunday. Below is a recap of a few notable matchups that occurred.

Anaheim Ducks 3-2 Montreal Canadiens

The Anaheim Ducks faced a challenging game but ultimately overcame the Montreal Canadiens. Joel Armia opened the scoring for the Canadiens with a shorthanded goal midway through the first period. The situation worsened for the Ducks when Christian Dvorak extended the Canadiens' lead with a power play goal just four minutes later.

In the second period, the Ducks regrouped and managed to equalize the score at two. Mason McTavish scored with 6:23 remaining in the period, followed closely by Frank Vatrano, who netted the equalizer less than a minute later.

Determined to secure a victory, Anaheim found the winning goal with 8:49 left in regulation, courtesy of Alexander Killorn. Both teams recorded 14 shots in the final period, but the Canadiens were unable to score again. The Ducks currently find themselves nine points away from a playoff position in the Western Conference, while the Canadiens are six points behind in the Eastern Conference.

New York Rangers 4-2 Las Vegas Golden Knights

The New York Rangers triumphed over the visiting Las Vegas Golden Knights with a score of 4-2 at Madison Square Garden. Jack Eichel opened the scoring for the Golden Knights with a power play goal just 19 seconds before the end of the first period. The Rangers quickly responded, with Alexis Lafreniere leveling the score only 78 seconds into the second period.

Eichel then scored again for the Golden Knights, regaining the lead midway through the second frame. However, the Rangers, trailing once more, fought back as Mika Zibanejad equalized with a power play goal five minutes into the final period. K. Andre Miller then scored the go-ahead goal for the Rangers with 8:27 remaining, and Artemi Panarin sealed the victory with a fourth goal on a power play in the closing moments.
