NHL roundup: Ex-Devil Adam Henrique powers Ducks with first hat-trick

In a rare victory over his old team, the visiting Anaheim Ducks defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-1 in Newark on Sunday night, Adam Henrique scoring his first career hat trick.
Henrique, who appeared in a single game for the Devils in the 2010-11 season, followed by spending over six seasons with the New Jersey team, went into Sunday's match having achieved 26 two-goal performances in 858 NHL games.
Additionally, Alex Killorn and Troy Terry managed to find the back of the net for the Ducks, breaking their five-game losing streak and securing only their second win in 15 games (2-13-0). Goalkeeper John Gibson contributed to the victory with 18 saves in the first two periods before having to leave the game due to illness. Lukas Dostal stepped in and made 10 saves in the third period.
On the other side, Michael McLeod scored the lone goal for the Devils, who experienced just their third loss in 11 games (8-3-0), but unfortunately fell to a 1-5-1 record in the second game of back-to-back sets. Goalkeeper Akira Schmid made 22 saves throughout the game.
Moving on to the Capitals' matchup against the Hurricanes, Darcy Kuemper stood tall in net, making 28 saves to aid Washington in their rally for a shootout victory in Raleigh, N.C. Evgeny Kuznetsov sealed the win with the only goal in the shootout, while Martin Fehervary found the back of the net in regulation. It was a crucial win for the Capitals, breaking their two-game losing streak.
For the Hurricanes, Sebastian Aho scored and Pyotr Kochetkov made 20 saves, but unfortunately, Carolina fell short once again in the shootout, marking their second consecutive loss in a tiebreaker.
In the clash between the Avalanche and the Sharks, Nathan MacKinnon had an outstanding performance with two goals and two assists. Mikko Rantanen, Valeri Nichushkin, Ryan Johansen, and Miles Wood also contributed to Colorado's dominant 6-2 victory over San Jose in Denver.
Jonathan Drouin provided two assists, while goaltender Alexandar Georgiev made 27 saves for the Avalanche, who have now won three out of their last four games. MacKinnon continues to impress with a 15-game point streak, matching his career-high, and has recorded at least one point in all 16 Avalanche home games this season.
On the Sharks' side, Tomas Hertl scored two goals, Mikael Granlund provided two assists, and Mackenzie Blackwood made 22 saves, but it wasn't enough to overcome Colorado.
Vegas secured their ninth consecutive win against Ottawa with goals from Chandler Stephenson, Jonathan Marchessault, Nicolas Roy, and William Karlsson. The losing streak for Ottawa extended to four games as Josh Norris, Brady Tkachuk, and Ridly Greig managed to find the back of the net. Joonas Korpisalo showcased his skills with 25 saves.
In the game between the Canucks and Blackhawks, Vancouver made a stunning comeback with second-period goals from Dakota Joshua, Brock Boeser, and Ilya Mikheyev. They claimed victory over Chicago, with Elias Pettersson also contributing a goal. J.T. Miller and Tyler Myers excelled with two assists each, and goalie Thatcher Demko displayed his expertise with 25 saves.
Nick Foligno scored twice for the Blackhawks, while Cole Guttman added another goal. Unfortunately, Chicago's losing streak continued for the fourth consecutive game, managing only two wins in their last ten games. Rookie standout Connor Bedard assisted on two goals, showcasing his talent. Goalie Petr Mrazek made 22 saves to keep the game competitive.
