NHL roundup: Flyers stage comeback against Panthers, Flames extend winning streak to three

The Philadelphia Flyers secured their inaugural victory of the season against the Florida Panthers, while the Flames triumphed over the struggling Blackhawks with a decisive five-goal margin.

Philadelphia (19-20-5) achieved their second consecutive win following a four-game losing streak, defeating the Panthers (25-16-3) with a score of 4-3. The Panthers initially took control of the game, establishing a 2-0 lead through goals from Sam Reinhart (27) and Uvis Balinskis (2).

However, the Flyers responded effectively, with Garnet Hathaway (5) and Noah Cates (8) each scoring to level the match. Just under two minutes later, Reinhart netted his second goal, putting the Panthers ahead 3-2.

Fortunately for the Flyers, Morgan Frost (10) and Noah Cates (9) each found the back of the net, securing the victory.

In the matchup between the Flames and Blackhawks, Calgary emerged victorious with a score of 5-2. The Flames extended their winning streak to four games, with Jakob Pelletier (3) contributing significantly by scoring two goals and providing an assist. Additional goals came from Mikael Backlund (9), Jake Bean (2), and Yegor Sharangovich (7).

Despite being outshot 36-25, the Flames outperformed the Blackhawks in nearly every other statistical category. Ultimately, the most critical factor was the number of goals scored, a category in which the Blackhawks fell short.

Chicago's record now stands at 14-28-2 for the season, while the Flames improved their standing in the Pacific Division, moving ahead of the Vancouver Canucks with a record of 21-14-7.
