NHL roundup: Jets outlast Avalanche in high-scoring opening game

For the Predators, Jason Zucker and Ryan O'Reilly found the back of the net, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Goaltender Juuse Saros made 17 saves, while the Predators held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 at different points in the game. The Canucks showcased their resilience and ability to mount a comeback, ultimately securing the victory.
In the Eastern Conference first-round series, the New York Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals 4-1 in their opening playoff game. The Rangers had a strong second period, with goals from Matt Rempe and Artemi Panarin just 33 seconds apart. Rempe's goal came off a cross-ice pass from Jimmy Vesey.
Florida Panthers secured a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first game of their best-of-seven, first-round Eastern Conference playoff series held in Sunrise, Fla.
The go-ahead goal was scored by Carter Verhaeghe early in the third period, with an assist from Aleksander Barkov. Verhaeghe's goal marked his 16th in the postseason, setting a new team record.
Additionally, Sam Reinhart and Matthew Tkachuk contributed goals for the Panthers, while Sergei Bobrovsky made 17 saves. On the other side, Tampa Bay received goals from Brandon Hagel and Steven Stamkos, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Panthers' lead.
