NHL roundup: Kraken shine in New York City, Avs shutout Devils
The Seattle Kraken take center stage in today's lineup of games following an impressive seven-goal performance during their away match against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
With this victory, the Kraken have secured three wins out of their first four games in December, triumphing over the Rangers with a score of 7-5 in a shootout. The team showcased their offensive prowess by scoring five consecutive goals between the second and third periods, spearheaded by Oliver Bjorkstrand, who netted two goals.
Despite efforts from Alexis Lafrenière and K'Andre Miller, who narrowed the gap to 6-5 for the Rangers in the third period, Yanni Gourde sealed the victory for the Kraken with an empty-net goal. The Rangers' record now stands at 14-11-1, while the Kraken improve to 14-14-1.
In another matchup, the Tampa Bay Lightning secured their second consecutive victory with a 4-2 win against the Vancouver Canucks. Nikita Kucherov led the Lightning with three points, including one goal and two assists, enhancing their record to 14-9-2.
The Vancouver Canucks saw goals from Kiefer Sherwood and Quinn Hughes, but it was insufficient to overcome the Lightning, leaving them with a record of 14-8-4.
