In the matchup between the Blues and the Golden Knights, the St. Louis Blues handed the Vegas Golden Knights their fourth consecutive defeat, winning 5-4 after a shootout. Jack Eichel and Pavel Dorofeyev scored in the third period for the Knights, leveling the score at 4-4 and forcing overtime.
However, Jake Neighbours and Brayden Schenn both found the net for the Blues during the shootout, clinching the victory. The Golden Knights are currently experiencing their most challenging stretch of the season, while the Blues have won three of their last four games.
In another game, the Carolina Hurricanes edged the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3. Sebastian Aho scored the decisive goal in overtime, marking the Hurricanes' fourth overtime victory of the season. The Blackhawks initially took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Philipp Kurashev and Tyler Bertuzzi, but Carolina responded in the second period with goals from Seth Jarvis and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
The teams exchanged goals, resulting in a 3-3 tie heading into overtime, where the Hurricanes ultimately secured the win. The Blackhawks have not achieved a winning streak of two games or more since their three-game run from December 15th to December 19th.
The Boston Bruins have achieved victories in three out of their last four matches, securing a 6-3 triumph against the San Jose Sharks. In another matchup, the Minnesota Wild netted two goals in the third period to claim a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
