The Nashville Predators achieved an unexpected victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, winning 3-2 in overtime, while the Islanders demonstrated their offensive prowess by scoring six goals in a decisive win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Nick Blankenburg secured the game-winning goal for Nashville, marking his first of the season. The Predators initially took a 2-0 lead with goals from Zachary L'Heureux and Jonathan Marchessault before the Kings responded with two goals from Quinton Byfield and Alex Laferriere. Blankenburg's goal in the opening minute of overtime left Kings fans disheartened.
With this victory, the Predators improved their record to 10-17-7, while the Kings fell to 19-9-5, now holding a record of 7-1-2 in their last ten games.
In their match against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Islanders matched their season-high by scoring six goals in a 6-3 victory. This performance ties their previous high set earlier in the season. Despite their offensive output, the Islanders have recorded only 92 goals, ranking them third lowest in the Eastern Conference and seventh in the league.
The goals for New York came from Maxim Tsyplakov, Bo Horvat, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Isaiah George, Noah Dobson, and Mathew Barzal. Following this win, the Islanders' record improved to 13-14-7, while the Maple Leafs fell to 21-11-2.
The Edmonton Oilers triumphed over the San Jose Sharks with a score of 3-2, thanks to an overtime goal by Leon Draisaitl, who scored just 18 seconds into the extra period. Zach Hyman and Mattias Ekholm also contributed goals for Edmonton, while Luke Kunin and Jan Rutta found the net for San Jose.
