NHL roundup: Rangers battle back from brink to shock Islanders in OT

Artemi Panarin netted a goal just 10 seconds into overtime on Sunday evening to complete a thrilling comeback by the New York Rangers. The team managed to erase a two-goal deficit in the third period to secure a 6-5 victory over the New York Islanders in a Stadium Series match held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson committed a turnover immediately after the extra session's opening faceoff, leading to Panarin's puck shuffle and goal against Ilya Sorokin.

Erik Gustafsson scored early in the first period, Vincent Trocheck netted two goals in the second, and Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad scored power-play goals late in the third to send the game into overtime for the Rangers, who were down 4-1 before securing their seventh consecutive victory.

Brock Nelson, Bo Horvat, and Mathew Barzal scored within a span of slightly over three minutes in the early first period, followed by goals from Anders Lee in the second and Alexander Romanov in the third for the Islanders, who now hold a 3-3-3 record under coach Patrick Roy.

Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin made 36 saves, maintaining the team's perfect 5-0-0 record in outdoor games. On the other hand, Sorokin recorded 32 saves for the Islanders, who are now 0-1-1 in outdoor games.
