NHL roundup: Sharks edge Senators to hand Magnus Chrona maiden victory

On Saturday, the San Jose Sharks secured a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators with Thomas Bordeleau netting both goals and goaltender Magnus Chrona earning his inaugural career win.

Chrona, in his fifth game ever, stopped 31 shots, including 13 in the third period, for a big moment. The Sharks won their first game after trading away Anthony Duclair and Tomas Hertl. Mikael Granlund helped with two assists.

Tim Stutzle scored for the Senators, but they lost their seventh game in a row. Joonas Korpisalo, the goalie for the Senators, saved 19 shots.

The Canucks won 5-0 against the Jets. Nils Hoglander, Elias Pettersson, and Pius Suter each scored a goal and assisted on another. The Canucks have been strong defensively lately, only allowing three goals in their last four games. Thatcher Demko, the Canucks' main goalie, left the game early, but Casey DeSmith came in and helped keep the Jets scoreless.

The Lightning dominated the Flyers, winning 7-0. Anthony Duclair scored a goal and assisted on another in his first game with Tampa Bay. The Lightning scored four goals in the first period. The Flyers' goalie, Samuel Ersson, struggled and was replaced by Felix Sandstrom.

The Sabres won in a shootout against the Oilers, with Alex Tuch scoring the winning goal. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 30 saves for the Sabres. The game ended 3-2 in favor of the Sabres.

The Predators beat the Blue Jackets 2-1. Luke Evangelista scored the winning goal for the Predators in the third period. Kevin Lankinen saved 32 shots for Nashville, while Daniil Tarasov made a career-high 47 saves for the Blue Jackets.

The Hurricanes defeated the Devils 4-2. Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored the winning goal for Carolina. The Devils' goalie, Luke Hughes, and Carolina's Jesper Fast battled for the puck before Kotkaniemi scored. The Devils scored an extra-attacker goal in the final seconds.

The Bruins won 5-1 against the Penguins, with Pavel Zacha scoring two goals and assisting on another. Kris Letang scored the only goal for the Penguins, and Alex Nedeljkovic made 18 saves for the Bruins.

The Panthers won 5-1 against the Flames, with Vladimir Tarasenko scoring two goals and assisting on another. Anthony Stolarz made 34 saves for the Panthers, and Jacob Markstrom made 26 saves for the Flames.

The Maple Leafs defeated the Canadiens 3-2, with Max Domi scoring a goal and assisting on another for Toronto. Ilya Samsonov made 29 saves for the Maple Leafs, while Sam Montembeault made 24 saves for the Canadiens.

The Capitals won 4-1 against the Blackhawks, with Sonny Milano scoring a goal in his fifth consecutive game. Charlie Lindgren made 31 saves for the Capitals, and Petr Mrazek made 22 saves for the Blackhawks.

The Rangers won 4-0 against the Blues, with Igor Shesterkin making 26 saves for New York. The Rangers scored three power-play goals in the game.

The Golden Knights defeated the Red Wings 5-3, with Jonathan Marchessault scoring a hat trick, including the game-winning goal. James Reimer made 31 saves for the Red Wings.

The Stars won 4-1 against the Kings, with Radek Faksa and Jason Robertson scoring goals 18 seconds apart in the second period. Wyatt Johnston and Joe Pavelski also scored for the Stars, while Kevin Fiala scored the only goal for the Kings.
