Marc-Andre Fleury achieved a remarkable milestone in his career by surpassing Patrick Roy's record and securing second place in NHL history with 552 career victories. The Minnesota Wild showcased their dominance by securing a resounding 5-0 victory over the New York Islanders, who were visiting on Monday evening.
Fleury achieved his first shutout of the season and the 74th of his career by stopping all 21 shots he faced. With his 552nd win, he now trails only Martin Brodeur, who holds the record with 691 victories.
Minnesota was led by Joel Eriksson Ek, who scored two goals, as they snapped a four-game winless streak. Mats Zuccarello, Connor Dewar, and Marcus Foligno each contributed with one goal.
The Islanders were shut out for the third time this season and have lost two consecutive games, as well as four of their past five contests.
