Novak Djokovic hampered by wrist issue in narrow United Cup win as Serbia reach quarters

Novak Djokovic brought Serbia back to a 1-1 tie in the $10 million mixed team tournament and was originally set to compete in the mixed doubles decider with Olga Danilovic.
However, he was replaced by 20-year-old Hamad Medjedovic. The young Serbian pair, Djokovic and Medjedovic, triumphed over Petr Nouza and Miriam Kolodziejova with a score of 4-6, 7-6, 10-8, securing Serbia's spot in the quarterfinals. Their next match will be against the host country, Australia, on Wednesday.
During the match, Djokovic appeared to be bothered by his right wrist, occasionally showing signs of discomfort in the opening set at the RAC Arena. After the first set, he received treatment from a trainer for his wrist. This seemed to give his opponent, Lehecka, an opportunity, as he won the second set in a tiebreak.
Before the start of the third set, Djokovic took a medical timeout. However, he came back strong, quickly establishing a 5-0 lead and ultimately winning the match. After the victory, the 36-year-old acknowledged that his wrist was sore but expressed his determination to play through the pain.
He stated, "These things happen. You just have to manage and find a solution. Let's see what happens now."
In the other quarter-final match scheduled for Wednesday in Perth, Poland will face off against China.
Greece experienced a shocking defeat in their Group B opener against Chile. Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas lost a thrilling mixed doubles decider to Daniela Seguel and Tomas Barrios Vera, with a final score of 6-7, 6-3, 10-6 at Sydney's Ken Rosewell Arena.
Sakkari dominated the opener by defeating Seguel with a score of 6-0, 6-1. However, Chile's Jarry managed to defeat Stefanos Sakellaridis in a closely contested match with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, leveling the tie.
The Greeks made the decision not to include Australian Open runner-up Tsitsipas in the singles match.
