Nuno denies exit rumors amid Forest ownership tensions

Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has firmly rejected suggestions that he is contemplating his future at the Premier League club, branding recent departure speculation as "absurd" following his team's 1-1 stalemate against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The Portuguese tactician found himself at the center of intense media scrutiny after comments made on Friday appeared to intensify rumors regarding his potential exit from the City Ground. Nuno had previously acknowledged that his working relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis had become strained, revealing that their partnership was no longer founded on mutual trust.

The tension between the manager and ownership became publicly apparent last season when reports emerged of a heated exchange between the pair. The incident occurred when Marinakis made an unprecedented appearance on the pitch to engage in discussions with Nuno following the conclusion of a match, though the club subsequently sought to minimize the significance of their conversation.

When pressed by journalists about the possibility of departing Nottingham Forest, Nuno responded with characteristic directness. "Absolute nonsense. Absurd. This narrative, it's absurd," the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager stated emphatically.

However, the 50-year-old coach appeared less definitive when questioned about his long-term commitment to the club beyond the current transfer window period. "I cannot answer that question, but what I know is that I am working and trying to do my job the best I can," Nuno explained to the assembled media.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, Nuno emphasized his determination to resolve the underlying issues affecting the club's hierarchy. "Of course, the situation has to be solved and we are responsible people. We can have a good conversation to create a good platform for what is more important, the team," he continued.

The experienced coach stressed the importance of forthcoming discussions with the ownership group, suggesting that productive dialogue remains essential for the club's continued progress. "We're going to have it. We must. We need to have this conversation and we will have it. This is what I think is more important than anything."

Nuno's comments come at a time when Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a positive start to their Premier League campaign, currently occupying fourth position in the table after collecting four valuable points from their opening two fixtures. The Tricky Trees have demonstrated resilience and tactical discipline under the Portuguese manager's guidance, suggesting that any potential disruption to the coaching setup could prove counterproductive.
