Olmo and Victor news lift Barcelona ahead of Super Cup semi-final victory against Athletic

Barcelona received a significant advantage prior to their Spanish Super Cup semi-final victory against Athletic Club on Wednesday, as it was announced that the suspended players Dani Olmo (26) and Pau Victor (23) would be eligible to participate in the final. This news brought great satisfaction to manager Hansi Flick and his squad.
The decision by Spain's National Sports Council (CSD) to provisionally register the two players was communicated to the team while they were en route to the stadium.
Barcelona had acquired both players during the summer transfer window; however, due to the club's inability to comply with LaLiga's wage cap, they were only permitted to be registered for the first half of the season.
"Now we have an additional motivation to win this match," Flick stated to Movistar Plus before the game, and his team secured a 2-0 victory, advancing to the final on Sunday against either Real Madrid or Mallorca, who are set to compete on Thursday.
"I believe this was a positive signal for us before the match. We are a united team, and we aimed to win for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, as well as for the club," Flick remarked during a press conference following the match.
"Naturally, I am delighted for these two players, but my happiness extends to the entire team as well.
"I prefer not to dwell on past events, but we must continue to move forward, and I hope this development will be advantageous for us in the future."
Gavi and Lamine Yamal were the goal scorers who propelled Barcelona into the final, and both players expressed their excitement regarding the news.
Gavi emulated Olmo's signature celebration, where he gestures as if checking the time, when he netted the opening goal.
"I informed him beforehand that I would do it if I scored, and I dedicated it to him," Gavi commented.
"Both Dani and Pau are invaluable to our team, and we are all thrilled that they can now participate."
Yamal, who has recently returned from injury, added a second goal for Barcelona and expressed his enthusiasm about the prospect of playing alongside Olmo and Victor in the final.
"In the end, we are very pleased that they can play now, and I hope they will join us in the final," Yamal stated.
"If the coach selects them, I hope they give their utmost effort."
