Olympique Lyonnais 4-3 Stade Brest: Late Maitland-Niles penalty earns hosts win in seven-goal thriller

Brest, in second place, lost 4-3 at Olympique Lyonnais after Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a penalty 15 minutes into stoppage time, leaving the visitors 10 points behind Paris St Germain in Ligue 1.

Eric Roy's side are still on 53 points, one ahead of AS Monaco, who have a game in hand and will visit Brest next Sunday.

PSG lead with 63 points, with their match this weekend rescheduled ahead of Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Barcelona, which they trail 3-2.

Lyon have now gone five games unbeaten, moving up to seventh place with 41 points, two points behind Lens in the race for European qualifying places.

Corentin Tolisso put Lyon ahead in the 18th minute with a powerful half-volley into the top corner before Steve Mounie's header from a set-piece levelled the scores on the hour.

Romain Del Castillo gave the visitors the lead in the 64th minute with a superb free kick, and three minutes later he made it 3-1 with another goal into an empty net.

Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back for Lyon with a close-range finish from a corner in the 70th minute, and Nicolas Tagliafico equalised nine minutes later with a low shot.

Both teams were reduced to ten men in the 86th minute after a scuffle when Tagliafico and Pierre Lees-Melou were sent off, before a nasty tackle on Lacazette by Brest keeper Marco Bizot earned Lyon a penalty and the win through Maitland-Niles.
