Panthers clinch third consecutive Stanley Cup Finals berth with win over Hurricanes

The Panthers, who entered the game leading the series 3-1, came alive during a three-goal second period.
In the first period, Sebastian Aho scored twice for the Hurricanes, allowing them to head into the intermission with a 2-0 lead. This marked only the second occasion in the series where Carolina had a two-goal advantage.
However, the second period saw a shift for the Hurricanes as Florida netted three goals in just four and a half minutes. Matthew Tkachuk opened the scoring for the Panthers with a power play goal.
Merely thirty seconds later, Evan Rodrigues leveled the score with his first playoff goal, providing the Panthers with significant momentum.
Anton Lundell then put Florida ahead 3-2 with eight minutes remaining in the second period, forcing the Hurricanes to chase the game - and the series.
It wasn't until the 8:30 mark of the third period that Seth Jarvis managed to equalize, setting the stage for a thrilling finish.
Regrettably for the Carolina supporters, disappointment ensued. As they had in their previous four away games, the Panthers continued to score.
The decisive goal came with 7:39 remaining, as Carter Verhaeghe netted his second of the series, restoring Florida's lead.
This time, the lead was secure. Sam Bennett capped off the victory with an empty-net goal, ensuring the Panthers' success, who triumphed in all three of their road games.
For the Hurricanes, this marks the seventh consecutive year in which they have advanced past at least one playoff round, yet they have not succeeded in winning their conference. No other team in the four major American sports has accomplished this for more than five consecutive years.
Florida has now established itself as the ninth distinct team to participate in three consecutive Stanley Cup finals and will be pursuing their second successive victory.
They are set to face the champion of the Western Conference, with the Edmonton Oilers currently ahead of the Dallas Stars 3-1 as they approach Thursday's Game 5.
