Paris Saint-Germain 0-1 Borussia Dortmund (0-2 agg): Hummels heads Dortmund into Champions League final

Borussia Dortmund secured their spot in the Champions League final as the first team of the season by delivering a strong performance to defeat PSG 1-0 in Paris, ultimately clinching a 2-0 aggregate victory.

Luis Enrique's rallying cry to his PSG team before the game was not about winning by two goals, but simply about winning. And they certainly looked like a team capable of overturning their first-leg deficit and reaching the final in Wembley, as they dominated the early stages of the match.

Achraf Hakimi led the charge down the right-hand side, bombarding the Dortmund defense with crosses aimed towards the dangerous Kylian Mbappe, who was looking to exploit the space on the left wing.

Despite being under pressure from the passionate Parisian crowd, the German visitors held firm and came close to conceding shortly after the half-hour mark when Mbappe dribbled past three defenders, only for Ousmane Dembele to sky his shot over the bar from close range.

Dortmund were not mere bystanders in the fast-paced first half, as they had a golden opportunity to score through Karim Adeyemi, who unfortunately could only shoot straight at Gianluigi Donnaruma when through on goal.

In the second half, Luis Enrique must have inspired his team during the interval, as they came out with renewed hunger and determination.

Warren Zaire-Emery had a chance to put PSG ahead, but he inexplicably sliced his shot onto the post from just six yards out, much to the disappointment of the home fans.

Despite PSG's constant pressure, it was a Dortmund legend, Mats Hummels, who turned the tide of the game by emphatically heading in from Julian Brandt's corner-kick, doubling Dortmund's aggregate lead.

Shocked by this setback, PSG immediately went on the attack, and Nuno Mendez came agonizingly close to scoring with a wonderful effort from the edge of the box, only to see his shot strike the post. This marked the 12th time PSG had hit the woodwork in the UEFA Champions League this season.

In the closing moments, Borussia's defense was completely locked down, fully aware that their best opportunity for a smooth advancement was to maintain their current position. With Mbappe and Vitinha's shots hitting the crossbar in the one-sided finale, they successfully achieved their goal.

Now, Dortmund can only anticipate the revelation of their final adversaries, hoping for a chance to avenge their 2013 defeat against Bayern – a defeat that interestingly took place at Wembley Stadium. Undoubtedly, this prospect will surely ignite their enthusiasm.
